Position Summary
The Senior Director Delivery – PMO serves as a key executive leader responsible for shaping and driving the success of enterprise-wide IT consulting engagements. This role oversees the strategic direction, governance, and operational excellence of the Program Management Office (PMO), ensuring delivery of transformative technology solutions that meet client objectives and business outcomes. The Senior Delivery Director partners with executive leadership to define organizational delivery strategy, optimize resource utilization, and ensure financial performance, while fostering innovation and scalability across a diverse portfolio of IT transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
PMO Strategy & Enterprise Leadership
- Define and execute a long-term PMO vision and roadmap aligned with corporate growth objectives and client success metrics.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership, influencing decisions on delivery models, operational investments, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Establish and enforce enterprise-wide governance frameworks, delivery standards, and scalable methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid) to ensure consistency and predictability.
- Drive organizational change management initiatives to embed PMO best practices across all delivery teams.
Portfolio & Program Oversight
- Own end-to-end accountability for a multi-million-dollar portfolio of complex, multi-phase IT consulting programs across industries (healthcare, finance, manufacturing, government).
- Oversee financial performance of the portfolio, including revenue forecasting, margin optimization, and proactive management of P&L impacts.
- Implement advanced analytics and executive dashboards to provide real-time visibility into delivery health, strategic risks, and client satisfaction.
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, SLAs, and regulatory requirements while maintaining operational excellence.
Operational & Financial Governance
- Lead financial stewardship of the PMO, including revenue forecasting, billing accuracy, backlog management, and profitability targets.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce delivery cycle times, improve resource utilization, and enhance gross margin.
- Partner with Finance and Operations to align delivery performance with corporate financial goals.
Stakeholder & Client Engagement
- Act as the primary executive escalation point for delivery issues, ensuring rapid resolution and client confidence.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with C-level client executives, positioning the PMO as a strategic partner in their transformation journey.
- Collaborate with Sales, Solution Architects, and Delivery leaders to shape proposals, influence deal structures, and ensure successful project initiation.
Talent Development & Organizational Leadership
- Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing PMO leadership team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and client-centricity.
- Implement succession planning and leadership development programs to scale PMO capabilities for future growth.
- Champion knowledge management and best practice sharing across the organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, or related field; Master’s degree or MBA strongly preferred.
- 15+ years of experience in IT program management, with 10+ years in PMO leadership roles within consulting or professional services.
- Demonstrated success in building and scaling PMO organizations, driving operational excellence, and delivering enterprise IT transformation programs.
- Strong financial acumen with proven ability to manage P&L, optimize margins, and align delivery with business objectives.
- PMP, SAFe, or Agile certifications strongly preferred.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and executive stakeholder management skills.
