Job Overview
As a Network Engineer III at CBTS, you will collaborate across departments including Managed Services Security, Managed Services Network, Engineering, and Presales Architecture. Your primary responsibilities include planning, configuring, and implementing networking technologies, as well as delivering Professional Services to clients. You will also support and repair IP networks and customer networks. As a lead engineer, you will directly influence customer satisfaction, professional services outcomes, and the successful deployment of data and Internet products.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Deployment
- Lead technical deployment projects, including implementation plans, methods of procedure, and resource identification.
- Engineer and configure customer orders within established processes and timelines.
Capacity Planning
- Collaborate with Network Planning to manage growth and capacity.
- Monitor network performance and communicate capacity needs.
Network Design & Implementation
- Implement network designs that meet performance, reliability, and scalability requirements within SLAs.
- Serve as technical lead on complex network projects.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Represent Network Engineering on cross-functional product and project teams.
- Contribute to the development, launch, and implementation of Professional Services offerings.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 7 years of hands-on engineering experience.
- Prior experience in sales engineering or network design is a plus.
- Cisco certifications (CCNP or CCIE) highly recommended.
- Extensive experience with configuration and maintenance of firewalls, routers, hubs, bridges, and switches.
- Deep understanding of TCP/IP platforms and dynamic routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, BGP).
- Practical experience with heterogeneous networking components, VLANs, ATM, Frame Relay, and optical carriers.
- Proficiency in using network analysis, management, and performance monitoring tools.
- Familiarity with security-related sources (e.g., BugTraq, CERT).
- Experience with hardware and software firewalls (Palo Alto, Fortinet, Checkpoint).
- Knowledge of wireless technology and conducting wireless site surveys.
- Proficiency in Visio for creating detailed network diagrams.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Expert-level knowledge of TCP/IP and related enhancements.
- Strong understanding of routing/switching technologies.
- Experience with network discovery, audits, and assessments.
- Working knowledge of DS3, T1, OC3, ISDN, Frame Relay, SONET, ATM, DSL.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience with Cisco DNAC/SDA, ISE, and scripting is a plus.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent job-related experience.
