Job Purpose:
Network Engineer II is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the network infrastructure for our managed service clients. This includes monitoring and troubleshooting network issues, as well as implementing security measures to protect client networks. The Network Engineer II will also be responsible for communicating with clients and providing technical support as needed. This position heavily focuses on implement SD-WAN, SASE (Secure Access Service Edge), and NaaS (Network as a Service) products into customer environments.
Essential Functions:
- Ability to work independently, self-starter required
- Technical experience in Data Center and Enterprise Routing and Switching is required
- Collaborate with Managed Service Providers, Architects, Security, and Engineers for Network transformation, improvements, and Proof of Concepts
- Design and implementation of networking solutions
- Assist in efforts with tools/product selections and conducting proof of concepts
- Provide input and comprehensive review of design documents, provide verbal and written feedback to the author
- Ability to think technically then translate into clear verbal and written communications for technical and non-technical audiences
- Create documents and presentations
- - Provide recommendations to be considered in developing the Technology roadmap
- Collaborate closely with Enterprise Architects, Security, and IT staff to drive company objective
- Implement best practices and standards, and drive technology portfolio management discipline
- Ensure adherence to standards and reference architectures for the domain
- Communicate clearly and effectively with architecture, project / program managers etc.
Education:
Four years of College resulting in a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
Certifications, Accreditations, Licenses:
CCNA, or equivalent, CCNP preferred
Relevant Work Experience:
5 to 7 years in related field
Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- 3+ years minimum experience in Network Engineering in a Managed Service Provider or similar workspace or 5+ minimum experience in a Network Engineering role in a Enterprise workspace
- Experience with network and security automation preferred, i.e. Ansible, Python, Javascript, Terrform, etc.
- Ability to troubleshoot large enterprise networks
- Ability to explain technical concepts, give clients guidance and vision about the solution
- In-depth knowledge of implementing and supporting multi-vendor complex Routing and Switching infrastructure
- Experience with network vendor API's a plus
- Experience with Cisco, VMware Velocloud, Palo Alto , or any other SDWAN vendor a plus
- Experience with Cisco, VMware. Palo Alto or ant other SASE vendor a plus
- Experience with Azure, AWS and/or GCP a plus
