The Role

The Commissioning Jr. Associate – Level 1 is an entry-level role designed to build foundational commissioning knowledge through hands-on training and field exposure. This position supports the inspection, testing, and validation of electrical, mechanical, and control systems while working under close supervision.

This role focuses on learning procedures, assisting senior team members, and developing core technical and safety competencies.

Key Responsibilities

Field Support & Testing (50%)

  • Assist with on-site inspections, validation, and testing activities
  • Participate in factory witness testing and observe equipment startup
  • Learn to use testing equipment and execute test procedures
  • Support troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, and control systems

Planning & Procedures (20%)

  • Assist in developing commissioning plans
  • Support preparation of pre-functional checklists
  • Assist with functional performance test scripts

Design & Document Review (15%)

  • Support review of shop drawings, submittals, and sequences of operation
  • Assist in commissioning-focused design reviews

Reporting & Documentation (15%)

  • Assist in preparing project progress reports
  • Contribute to final commissioning documentation
  • Track time and activities using company tools

Qualifications

Education / Experience (one of the following):

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction, or related field
    OR
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with installation, testing, or troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, or control systems

Skills & Abilities:

  • Basic knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and control systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams)
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and remotely with strong communication skills
  • Problem-solving mindset with ability to follow established procedures
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Willingness to learn and use AI/tools to improve efficiency
  • Ability to meet safety requirements and obtain required certifications

Qualifications

Education / Experience:

  • No prior experience required
  • Technical coursework or certifications in engineering, electrical, or mechanical fields preferred

Skills & Abilities:

  • Basic understanding of electrical, mechanical, or control systems (preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams)
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision
  • Effective communication (written and verbal)
  • Ability to work remotely with strong time management and accountability
  • Willingness to learn new tools, including AI-driven solutions
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Commitment to safety standards and procedures

Certifications

  • Ability to obtain NFPA 70E and OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certifications

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in office, construction, and outdoor environments
  • Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and working in confined spaces
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs


Travel Requirements

  • Approximately ~75% travel expected.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license. 
  • Travel is defined as physically leaving home on behalf of business activities including but not limited to client sites, meetings with other employees, meetings for business development purposes, running errands on behalf of the business, attending industry conferences, etc.
  • Travel may involve transportation by car or plane depending on the destination and nature of the business need.


Salary:

  • The salary range for this role is $42,000-$65,000 paid annually
