About CData Software, Inc.
At CData, we believe data should work for people—and that starts with the team building the technology behind it. In a world where data is increasingly complex and distributed, we’re helping organizations bring clarity and connection through real-time data integration. Our products make it easier to access and work with data anywhere, empowering teams to focus on innovation instead of infrastructure.
More than 10,000 organizations worldwide rely on CData to power their most important business decisions. Behind that impact is a global team of passionate problem-solvers, engineers, and innovators who are redefining what’s possible in data connectivity.
Headquartered in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, CData has over 500 team members, with offices in North America, Europe, and Asia. We take pride not just in what we build, but in how we build it: together, with curiosity, creativity, and a shared drive to push boundaries.
Our AI Promise
As we look ahead, AI has become a central pillar of what we do. CData is evolving to be AI-native: we’re embedding advanced AI tools into our platform, including semantic layers that let the business side and technical side speak the same language, AI connectivity that enables real-time access to data from across your enterprise, and user-friendly, governed ways for teams to ask and act on business questions with conversational tools and intelligent agents.
If you want to work somewhere where your engineering, data, or product work directly enables organizations to turn ambiguous, siloed data into trusted intelligence—and where AI is not just hype, but deeply woven into our mission—CData is the place for you.
About the role
CData is the real-time data connectivity company powering the world’s leading software platforms. Connect AI Embedded and our embedded connectors provide governed, SQL-based access to 350+ enterprise data sources—delivered as white-labeled, enterprise-grade components inside our ISV customers’ products.
Every fast-scaling AI-forward SaaS platform and enterprise ISV now feels pressure to deliver agents, analytics, and automation that rely on direct access to customer data. But building and maintaining connectivity drains precious engineering time and creates ongoing reliability and security risks.
We’re looking for a Lead Product Marketing Manager who can translate deep technical capabilities into clear, differentiated value for product leaders engineering VPs who expect substance, accuracy, and credibility.
You will help develop and execute an end-to-end product marketing strategy for the Embedded portfolio, serving as a strategic partner to product, sales, and marketing leadership. You’ll shape GTM direction, refine competitive positioning, and create the content and enablement that helps technical buyers say yes in sales-led motions.
What you'll do
GTM Strategy & Market Development
- Develop positioning of Embedded offerngs across ISV use cases—analytics, copilots/AI features, workflow/automation, and data ingestion.
- Define competitive strategy against build-in-house, unified API providers, and embedded iPaaS grounded in technical accuracy.
- Help lead market development for embedded connectivity in the AI era, reinforcing CData as the standard for enterprise-grade embedded data access.
- Partner cross functionally to define and execute quarterly and annual GTM strategies, owning growth performance for the embedded market.
- Overhaul and uplift embedded GTM presence (collateral, sales enablement tools, website) with exciting new AI-oriented visual identity and brand voice (in process, Q’1-2 timing).
Buyer & Sales Collateral
- Create technical content that meets the expectations of engineering evaluators—architecture guides, implementation patterns, integration reference docs, and security explanations.
- Build clear value narratives around the core pillars of Embedded: Connectivity (350+ enterprise sources), Context (feature-complete coverage), and Control (resilience to API changes, security, high-volume workloads).
- Serve as the subject-matter expert for embedded products, equipping sales, customer success, and marketing with technical messaging and differentiation.
- Lead customer, market, and buyer research to inform messaging for both Tier 1 enterprise ISVs and Tier 2 high-growth SaaS teams.
Product Partnership
- Translate customer feedback and competitive insights into roadmap input—especially around coverage gaps, performance expectations, and feature needs.
- Partner with product on launches for new products, features, security enhancements, and developer-tooling improvements (packaging, configuration experiences, metadata discovery, authentication flows, and test-environment support).
- Plan and execute complex marketing programs end-to-end, including product-wide release cycles and major embedded GTM programs.
Research & Thought Leadership
- Stay current on ISV, SaaS, and AI platform trends—especially how ISVs are embedding copilots, agents, and analytics that depend on deep connectivity.
- Conduct first-party research with prospects, and embedded customers to refine narrative and validate value propositions.
- Monitor competitive activity (unified API and embedded iPaaS providers) and develop counter-strategy position frameworks.
Metrics & Team Leadership
- Track and analyze business performance metrics related to embedded engagement, opportunity development, and pipeline health.
- Adopt AI tools to improve productivity and help pilot AI-driven processes across the marketing organization.
- Provide mentorship to other PMMs to raise team-wide technical and strategic capability.
Qualifications
Required:
- 7+ years of product marketing experience in data infrastructure, developer tools, embedded technologies, or software connectivity platforms.
- Demonstrated success marketing to technical buyers—architects, engineering leads, platform teams.
- Ability to produce technically credible content (architecture, security, integration guides).
- Familiarity with connectors, APIs, authentication, SQL-based interfaces (ODBC/JDBC/ADO.NET), and SaaS data landscapes.
- Experience supporting complex multi-persona buying processes involving engineering evaluators and product leadership.
- Strong competitive positioning skills centered on clarity and factual accuracy.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Comfortable operating autonomously in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multi-stream initiatives.
Preferred:
- Experience marketing to enterprise ISVs (50–10,000+ employees) or fast-growth SaaS companies.
- Background in or exposure to data integration and connectivity technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, REST APIs, JDBC/ODBC).
- Cross-functional leadership and influence skills across product and engineering teams.
Why This Role
- Category-defining opportunity: Embedded connectivity is undergoing a massive shift. AI-first and AI-forward ISVs now require deeper, more reliable, and more semantic real-time access—something legacy connectivity vendors don’t provide. You’ll drive CData’s leadership in this new generation of embedded connectivity.
- Market timing: ISVs are drowning in connectivity maintenance, patching broken integrations, and losing deals due to missing data sources. Demand for embedded connectivity is surging, and CData has unmatched technical depth and coverage.
- Technical credibility matters: Our buyers are hands-on evaluators. They test connectors, run performance benchmarks, and dig through documentation. You’ll speak directly to that audience with clarity and factual precision.
- Cross-functional impact: You’ll partner closely with product on roadmap, with sales on technical enablement, and with leadership on embedded strategy—driving company-level growth priorities.
