About You

You understand that people and relationships are the core of the work; the projects, tasks, and results will follow. You understand the dynamics that come with start-up culture and early-stage processes. You can work in the grey, create clarity from ambiguity, and help us evolve and mature.

You care deeply about candidate and team member experience and have the industry expertise and soft skills to educate hiring managers, map our talent processes, support candidate experience, and improve our talent outcomes. You’re comfortable navigating change and context-switching across roles.

What you'll do

  • Talent Acquisition: Lead full cycle recruiting for assigned roles and teams, with a focus on attracting diverse, high-quality talent across various disciplines (e.g. software engineers, product managers, partnerships, etc.).
  • Recruitment Process Optimization: Help establish, improve, and communicate our full cycle recruitment process. Work with strategic partners in the People function and across teams to iterate on recruiting operations from role creation to onboarding, ensuring a seamless and efficient experience for both candidates and hiring managers.
  • Candidate Sourcing: Build and maintain a strong network of strong candidates through creative sourcing strategies (e.g., social media, gaming events, university partnerships, referrals, and industry networking).
  • Employer Branding: Work with the marketing team and other stakeholders to support building and enhancing our employer brand, ensuring we are recognized as an attractive employer within our industry.
  • Collaboration with Hiring Managers: Work closely with department heads and hiring managers to understand hiring needs, job specifications, and team culture to ensure alignment in the recruitment process.
  • Data-Driven Insights: Leverage recruitment data and analytics to provide actionable insights and reports to senior leadership and business partners on hiring trends, recruitment costs, time-to-hire, and other key metrics. Identify, track, and improve hiring goals and metrics, helping us tell our talent story - internally and externally.
  • Stakeholder Management: Educating and guiding team members on our hiring process, crucial hiring and interviewing skills, and cost/benefit tradeoffs in the hiring process.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in talent acquisition or recruitment, with at least 2 years in a Senior role. Previous experience in the gaming or tech industries is highly preferred.
  • Leadership Skills: Leadership, mentoring, and project management skills, with the ability to motivate, guide, and upskill other recruiters.
  • Expert Knowledge of Recruiting Platforms: Experience with various sourcing tools, ATS (we use Rippling Recruiting), and job boards, as well as social media recruiting.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels.
  • Passion for Chess and Gaming: A genuine passion for Chess and the gaming industry, with a deep understanding of the skills and qualifications required for various roles in game development and related fields.
  • Bias Awareness in Hiring: Demonstrated commitment to reducing bias in recruitment practices and decision-making.
