As a vital ambassador for CIBSE, you will represent our institution to external audiences, clearly articulating the benefits and value of membership to organisations across the UK and beyond. Working closely with the Strategic Projects Team, you will help ensure that sustainable growth remains central to everything we do.

What you will do  

Membership Development 

  • Work with the Senior Membership Development Manager to execute CIBSE’s membership acquisition strategy, with the goal to increase membership year on year.  
  • Support the Senior Membership Development Manager in growing B2B membership through key companies. This includes but is not limited to:  

o   Verifying member eligibility, qualification checks and mapping routes to membership.

o   Producing quotations.  

o   Using the CRM (Salesforce) to record member data, process bulk uploads, generate invoices and reports.  

o   Deliver in-company presentations (remotely or in-person), promoting CIBSE membership and educating individuals on their routes to Professional Registration. 

o   Engaging, following up and supporting the individuals within the companies with queries regarding their membership applications.

o   Prospect for new business through the various prospecting avenue streams.   

o   Schedule in B2B development meetings with new and existing CIBSE contacts. 

  • Provide support to CIBSE’s non‑UK Membership Development Leads, including assisting with qualification checks and supporting administrative tasks related to B2B membership, ensuring consistency and operational alignment across regions. 
  • Provide accurate information and guidance to prospective members and enquirers via telephone and email, systematically following up on enquiries and actively engaging and converting leads into members through targeted phone campaigns and email communications.   
  • Host and deliver the monthly CIBSE Membership Webinar series, educating individuals about   the routes to membership.  
  • Record all activity on the CRM database including inputting potential members’ information. 
  • Attend CIBSE events, conferences and exhibitions where required. 


General Membership Tasks  

  • Respond to membership and professional registration enquiries by telephone and email, including participation in the weekly phone rota.  
  • Coordinate the annual awards and bursary programme for students and young professionals, acting as the main point of contact for judges, students, and partner companies, and working closely with the Marketing team to deliver effective promotion and advertising.  
  • Provide assistance across the department when required and support the work of the Strategic Projects team.  


Interactions  

Internal  

Work in a team which provides support for the Institution’s membership growth and development and liaise with the Membership and Registration, Networks and Engagement and Marketing teams as appropriate.   


External   

Provide advice and information to both individuals and Engineering/Construction companies to promote membership growth and retention with a particular focus on membership development.

What you will need to be successful 

Essential

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills to all levels.  
  • Experience of working in a membership/customer focused environment, dealing with enquiries with tact and diplomacy.  
  • Self-motivated and ability to use own initiative.  
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage a variety of projects and tasks at one time.   
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines with good personal organisation and time management skills.  
  • Experience of giving accurate advice via telephone and email.  
  • Ability to build and develop relationships with key stakeholders.  

  

Desirable   

  • Educated to degree level.  
  • Experience of working in a professional membership organisation.  
  • Demonstrable experience in executing membership development plans.  
  • Experience in Salesforce.
