About the Role


We are seeking a Principal Product Manager (PM) to lead the vision, strategy, and execution for key areas of the Citrine Platform. You will play a pivotal role in defining and delivering capabilities that empower scientists, materials engineers, and data scientists to accelerate innovation through AI and data-driven R&D.

As a Principal PM, you will collaborate across engineering, science, design, marketing, and customer success teams to identify user needs, define clear product priorities, and drive execution. You will also serve as a thought leader both internally and externally, helping shape the future of materials informatics.

Responsibilities

  • Define and communicate product vision, strategy, and roadmap for major platform capabilities.

  • Lead cross-functional teams through the product lifecycle—from problem discovery and requirements definition to launch and adoption.

  • Partner closely with customers, domain experts, and internal stakeholders to gain a deep understanding of scientific workflows, pain points, and opportunities.

  • Drive alignment across business and technical stakeholders with clearly articulated business cases and success metrics.

  • Translate complex technical and scientific challenges into elegant, intuitive product solutions.

  • Influence and mentor other product managers; help elevate the overall quality of product thinking across the organization.
  • Monitor market trends, competitive landscape, and customer feedback to inform product strategy and prioritization.

Skills and Experience

  • Experienced Product Leader: 8+ years of product management experience in B2B SaaS, with a minimum of 2 years in a senior or principal-level role, demonstrating leadership and strategic thinking.

  • Track Record in Technical Software: Demonstrated success in owning strategy and execution for complex software products, particularly those involving technical or scientific workflows.

  • Successful Feature Delivery: Extensive track record of shipping impactful features in close collaboration with engineering and design teams, from concept to launch.

  • Excellent Communication Skills: Exceptional communication and storytelling abilities, capable of translating complex technical and scientific information for both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Design-minded Leadership: Proven ability to develop product capabilities that make technologically and scientifically complex functions intuitive and pleasant for users

  • Data-Driven Decision Maker: Analytical mindset with a strong bias for action; comfortable making data-informed decisions in ambiguous and fast-paced environments.

  • Enterprise Customer Engagement: Significant experience engaging with enterprise customers, including gathering requirements, managing feedback loops, and building strong relationships.
  • Scientific Background: Background or professional experience in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, or a related scientific domain. Has familiarity with using machine learning, data science, scientific computing tools.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience working in a startup or fast-paced, high-growth environment.

  • Familiarity with product development tools like Jira, Figma, and Confluence.

  • SaaS Product Management experience targeting large customers.

Compensation and Pay Transparency 


At Citrine, we want your path to career growth to be transparent, straightforward, fair, and easily accessible -- starting with your application and interview process. The annual salary range listed below reflects the level we are considering for this position (please note that there may be unique situations where you may fall outside of this range). Where you fall within the range will depend on how your experience and skills align with our internal leveling system as we learn more about you throughout the interview process.


$195,000 USD - $245,000 USD
