To advance that mission, we develop cutting-edge policy solutions on clean energy and clean manufacturing innovation. An entrepreneurial, strategic nonprofit, ClearPath (501(c)(3)) collaborates with public and private sector stakeholders on innovations in nuclear energy, carbon capture, hydropower, natural gas, geothermal, energy storage, critical minerals, and clean manufacturing to enable private-sector deployment of critical technologies. Started in 2014 by entrepreneur Jay Faison, ClearPath engages in the direct education of policymakers within the White House, Congress, Executive Agencies like the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of the Interior, and regulators.

Job Summary 

ClearPath is searching for candidates for the ClearPath Conservative Leadership Program (CCLP) Congressional Communications Fellowship. The selected fellow will be placed in the office of a Republican Member of the U.S. House Conservative Climate Caucus. 

Specifically we are looking for individuals early to mid-career interested in an educational opportunity to work temporarily in Congress. In this fellowship role you will be expected to pursue educational opportunities in Congress to broaden your portfolio and capabilities. Fellows will bring a strong understanding of climate science, energy technologies, and free-market economics to help develop responsible policies that reduce emissions, promote American innovation and energy independence, and grow the economy. 

The fellowship role focuses on communications, including digital media, event planning, writing, and editing, requiring creativity, organization, and strong communication skills. The fellow may also be asked to contribute to legislative priorities through research and analysis.

Program may include professional development opportunities and sessions facilitated by ClearPath. Participants must be willing to further their education within the energy sector by participating in these activities. 

This is a temporary one-year fellowship. Qualified fellows will be placed with the Conservative Climate Caucus.Based on performance and operational openings, fellows may be considered for continued employment within our network of stakeholders past one year, if mutually agreeable. 

Responsibilities may include: 

• Plan and execute events such as briefings, roundtables, and site visits at both for Members of Congress and congressional staff. 
• Assist the office with preparation of agendas, staff lists, email communications, newsletters and social media strategy. 
• Draft talking points, op-eds, newsletters, and other communications materials.
• Track federal clean energy programs, such the RD&D programs at the Department of Energy and U.S. national laboratories, and make recommendations to improve their impact. 
• Network and Engage with stakeholders on policy issues, e.g. the Department of Energy, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, relevant Congressional Committees, key stakeholders, and industry groups. 
• Build coalitions and conduct outreach to conservative organizations and stakeholders.
• Create materials that support major Caucus meetings and workshops, working with Caucus members, consulting outside experts, and conducting relevant research.
• Conduct research and analysis to support Conservative Climate Caucus activities.
• Provide insights and quality written products pertaining to ongoing legislative, regulatory, and policy activities across the federal government.

Qualifications 

• College degree required. 
• 1-3 years of experience in a highly related field. 
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information for various audiences. 
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Creativity and initiative to propose and implement new ideas. 
• Experience with social media, digital engagement, and virtual event platforms.
• Professional experience in climate policy or clean energy policy is a plus.
• Solid understanding of Congress and a thorough understanding of the legislative process is a plus. 
• Strong writing and analytical skills. 
• Familiarity with conservative climate priorities, clean energy technologies, and key policy issues and debates. 
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
