Why ClearStar Needs You:

ClearStar is seeking a results-driven People Operations Leader to serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and Executive Team while maintaining accountability for the day-to-day execution of core People Operations functions. This role aligns People strategy with business priorities, strengthens culture and leadership capability, and ensures consistent, reliable People processes across a remote, global organization.

The Director must balance operational rigor with sound judgment, guiding leaders through complex people decisions while maintaining trust, accountability, and alignment. Success in this role requires hands-on ownership of People systems and the ability to serve as a steady, objective advisor through organizational change and transformation.

What You'll Do:

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and Executive Team on organizational design, workforce planning, and talent development.
  • Translate business priorities into People initiatives that support growth, operational discipline, and organizational alignment.
  • Lead the company’s performance management framework, including goal setting, feedback practices, and calibration.
  • Provide guidance to leaders on employee relations, performance expectations, and difficult conversations.
  • Reinforce ClearStar’s culture and leadership expectations across a remote, global organization.
  • Partner with Finance and Operations on headcount planning, compensation planning, and workforce strategy.
  • Perform and oversee core People Operations functions, including payroll, benefits administration, compliance, and People systems.
  • Develop workforce metrics and reporting to inform executive decision making.
  • Support additional People Operations initiatives and responsibilities as business needs evolve.

What You'll Need:

  • 8–10+ years of progressive experience leading People Operations or Human Resources functions, including direct partnership with executive leadership and ownership of company-wide people programs.
  • Experience operating as the senior HR leader or head of People within a small to mid sized organization.
  • Demonstrated experience leading organizational change initiatives such as restructuring, workforce planning, or operating model changes.
  • Direct experience owning performance management and compensation programs, including company-wide goal setting, performance review cycles, calibration practices, and annual merit or promotion planning in partnership with Finance.
  • Experience overseeing core People Operations functions including HR systems, payroll, benefits administration, and compliance, ideally using platforms such as Rippling or similar HRIS and payroll systems.
  • Working knowledge of multi state employment regulations and employment compliance requirements.
  • Experience operating in a player coach capacity, balancing strategic leadership with hands on ownership of core People Operations functions.
  • Ability to analyze workforce data, influence senior stakeholders, and communicate complex people issues to leadership while developing practical solutions that support business objectives.
  • A dedicated home office space that is noise- and distraction-free with access to a reliable and secure high-speed internet connection. Cable or fiber internet connections (at least 75mbps download/10mbps upload) are preferred, as satellite connections often cannot support the technologies used to perform day-to-day tasks.

Who You Are:

You are a practical and thoughtful People Operations leader who balances strategic thinking with hands-on execution. You bring structure to ambiguity, exercise sound judgment, and build trust while guiding leaders through complex people decisions. You are committed to strengthening culture, developing leaders, and building reliable systems that support ClearStar’s continued growth. If this sounds like the kind of work you enjoy, we encourage you to apply.
