Closer to Home Community Services (CTH) is a non-profit organization located in Alberta since 1995. CTH provides a wide range of services designed to meet the unique needs of children, youth and families.


About the Position:   This is a Full-Time Temporary position, mid June to end of August (approximately 10 weeks). The Camp Coordinator plays a key role in planning and implementing Closer to Home’s Summer in the City (SITC) program for youth ages 7-12.


Responsibilities:

  • Training and managing Summer Camp Leaders and Volunteers
  • Planning registration and program curriculum
  • Coordinating field trips and securing donations
  • Completing the end of Summer in the City report and assisting with evaluation of the program
  • Participate in staff training and workshops

Qualifications:

  • This position is funded by the Canada Summer Jobs Program (CSJP) through Employment and Social Development Canada; so all candidates must meet the eligibility criteria
  • Demonstrated ability and previous experience in working with children and youth
  • Supervisory experience is considered an asset
  • Self-motivated individual with the ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality
  • Able to work well in a team environment
  • Highly organized, adaptable and able to effectively manage multiple priorities at one time
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; comfortable interacting with people from a variety of backgrounds
  • Culturally competent and able to conduct yourself in a respectful manner, encouraging of the cultural/spiritual beliefs and practices of others
  • A Police Information Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search and an Intervention Record Check must be completed prior to commencement. Any convictions or records should be disclosed before hire
  • Current First Aid Level C from an Alberta OHS Approved agency
  • This position requires travel to and from locations around the city. We ask that the successful candidate have a driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Experience working in a non-profit setting is considered an asset
