About the role

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager with a specialization in non-profits to join our growing team. This role is integral to ensuring financial compliance, accurate reporting, and operational excellence for our clients in the non-profit sector.


Key Responsibilities

  • Non-Profit Accounting:
    • Manage fund accounting, including tracking and reporting on restricted and unrestricted funds.
    • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for non-profits.
  • Tax Compliance and Filings:
    • Oversee Form 990 and related tax filings.
    • Ensure compliance with state non-profit requirements, including charitable registration forms and annual filings.
  • Financial Management:
    • Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts, and financial reports tailored to non-profit clients.
    • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities, including reconciliations and financial statements.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Stay updated on changes in federal and state non-profit regulations and advise clients accordingly.
    • Manage audits and provide documentation as needed for compliance purposes.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Supervise, mentor, and train junior accounting staff.
    • Foster a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities to streamline financial workflows and implement best practices tailored to non-profits.

Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of accounting experience; bookkeeping, public accounting, small business accounting or similar understanding of accounting
  • Bachelors in Accounting or Business or equivalent experience  
  • No less than 2 years of related experience with at least 18 months in a client facing role
  • Ability to manage multiple clients, tasks, and projects simultaneously
  • Solutions driven individual who is exceptional at deadlines and problem solving
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Well organized and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to provide exceptional client service along developing lasting client relationships

The pay range for this role is:

90,000 - 130,000 USD per year (Remote - United States)
