Controller

Position Overview

The Controller is responsible for leading the Company's accounting and financial reporting functions for the Mule Canyon mine site and corporate office. This position oversees day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, cash management, internal controls, payroll oversight, and regulatory compliance while providing accurate and timely financial information to support executive decision-making.

 

The successful candidate will establish scalable financial processes and controls that support the Company's continued growth while ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, corporate policies, and applicable regulatory requirements. This role serves as a key business partner to operational leadership and works closely with external auditors, tax advisors, financial institutions, and corporate stakeholders.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll oversight, fixed assets, and cash management.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, management reports, and supporting analyses.
  • Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts, cash flow projections, and financial models to support operational planning.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures that support governance and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate annual audits, tax filings, and relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners.
  • Monitor capital expenditures, project accounting, procurement controls, and asset capitalization.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, corporate policies, tax regulations, and other applicable financial reporting requirements.
  • Partner with operations, engineering, geology, human resources, and executive leadership to provide financial guidance and business analysis.
  • Develop financial reporting dashboards, key performance indicators, and management metrics.
  • Support financing activities, Board reporting, due diligence efforts, and other strategic corporate initiatives.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • CPA designation is preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressively responsible accounting or finance experience, including leadership responsibilities.
  • Experience in mining, construction, manufacturing, natural resources, or other capital-intensive industries is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, payroll, and cash management.
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate financial information effectively while building strong cross-functional relationships.

 

Reporting Structure

 This position reports to the CFO and works cross-functionally with geology, engineering, operations, and corporate teams.
