Marketing Manager

The Role

The Marketing Manager will take ownership of Column’s marketing function, building upon a strong foundation established by previous leaders while introducing fresh ideas, creativity, and discipline. Reporting to the Director of Growth (with onboarding support from the outgoing Director of Sales & Marketing), this role will work cross-functionally with Product, CX, Services, and Engineering to drive sales, adoption, retention, and brand reputation.


Key Responsibilities

1. Product Marketing

  • Lead go-to-market strategy for new product launches, customer stories, and industry campaigns.
  • Translate complex technical and regulatory topics into clear, compelling narratives.
  • Partner with Product to align messaging for feature releases, compliance updates, and platform enhancements.

2. Lifecycle & Growth Marketing

  • Design and optimize multi-channel campaigns across email, SEO, paid media, and referrals.
  • Spearhead lead generation and nurture initiatives that convert and retain customers.
  • Maintain customer journeys through HubSpot, Customer.io, and related systems.
  • Monitor campaign performance, pipeline health, and ROI; provide insights to leadership.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Customer Success to produce sales-enablement content and outreach materials.

3. Content & Communications

  • Oversee creation of web, social, and partner content that strengthens Column’s brand voice.
  • Manage the Above the Fold newsletter and recurring webinar series.
  • Support executive communications, including press releases, blogs, and presentations.

4. Marketing Systems & Operations

  • Own the marketing technology stack (HubSpot, Customer.io, Notion, WordPress) and system integrations.
  • Maintain dashboards and performance reports to guide strategic decisions.
  • Align lead flows, reporting, and automation with CX and Sales teams.

Who You Are

You identify as a pie-shaped marketer (or Gen Marketer), a strategic thinker with operational depth in one or two areas (such as product marketing or lifecycle automation), and range across content, analytics, and systems.

Required Qualifications

  • 5–8 years of experience in B2B SaaS, marketplace, or GovTech marketing.
  • Proven track record of owning GTM strategy and multi-channel campaign execution.
  • Exceptional writing and storytelling skills.
  • Proficiency with HubSpot or equivalent CRM/automation tools and Customer.io.
  • Analytical and data-driven mindset; skilled in campaign measurement and optimization.
  • Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in regulated or policy-adjacent industries.
  • Proficient in latest AI tooling and models to power your work.
  • Familiarity with SEO/SEM, paid media, and PR/earned media pitching.
  • Experience managing webinars or live event programs.
  • Ability to mentor and develop junior marketing talent.

Your First 90 Days

Within 30 Days:

  • Conduct an internal listening tour across Product, CX, and Sales.
  • Audit existing campaigns, automations, and performance dashboards.
  • Lead one integrated campaign (webinar + email + blog) from planning to launch.

By 90 Days:

  • Launch at least one new GTM initiative driving measurable inbound or retention lift.
  • Establish a clear quarterly marketing rhythm (calendar, metrics, reporting).
  • Create system for tracking campaign ROI
