Alt titles: Senior DevOps Engineer / Senior Cloud Architect

We’re looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to own and evolve the cloud foundation that ComboCurve runs on. You’ll design, build, and operate the infrastructure that supports our products and data systems, ensuring reliability, security, and scalability as we grow. This is a high-impact role with broad ownership across cloud architecture, Kubernetes, CI/CD, observability, and cost management.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the design and operation of ComboCurve’s cloud platform on Google Cloud, with a focus on scalability, fault tolerance, and pragmatic engineering tradeoffs.
  • Build and maintain infrastructure-as-code that enables repeatable environments, safe changes, and strong operational hygiene.
  • Run and improve production Kubernetes workloads on GKE, ensuring smooth upgrades, stability, and performance.
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines that reduce friction for product teams while increasing deployment safety and speed.
  • Establish robust monitoring, logging, and tracing so we catch issues early and debug quickly when they occur.
  • Drive cloud security standards and enforce least-privilege access across our systems.
  • Automate operations with clean, maintainable scripts and tools that reduce toil.
  • Actively manage cloud spend and resource efficiency without sacrificing reliability.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, lead incident response efforts, and improve runbooks and postmortems.
  • Write ADRs, architecture diagrams, and technical documentation that help scale knowledge across the team.
  • Mentor engineers on platform best practices and help raise the overall operational bar at ComboCurve.

Requirements

  • Cloud Architecture: Experience designing scalable and fault-tolerant systems specifically on Google Cloud Platform.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Deep expertise in Terraform for provisioning, module creation, and state management.
  • Kubernetes Operations: Running production GKE clusters, including upgrades, autoscaling, and troubleshooting.
  • Cloud Networking: Solid grasp of VPCs, subnetting, peering, load balancing, and firewall rules.
  • CI/CD: Building and optimizing deployment pipelines, ideally using GitHub Actions.
  • Observability: Implementing monitoring, logging, and tracing strategies using tools like Datadog.
  • Core Protocols: Understanding how DNS, TLS, SSH, and HTTP(S) actually work under the hood.
  • Container Packaging: Optimizing Docker images and managing application deployments via Helm.
  • Scripting: Writing automations in Python, Go, or Bash to glue systems together.
  • Cost Optimization: Keeping an eye on cloud spend and rightsizing resources to avoid waste.
  • Incident Response: Comfortable participating in on-call rotations and debugging live production issues.
  • Cloud Security: Managing IAM roles, service accounts, and enforcing least privilege access.
  • Secrets Management: Securely handling credentials using tools like Google Secret Manager or Vault.
  • Technical Communication: Writing architecture decision records (ADRs) , drafting architecture diagrams, and mentoring team members.
