About your new role:

As a Systems Administrator, you will play a crucial role in managing and maintaining our servers, primarily Ubuntu, as well as our Azure cloud infrastructure and data centers equipped with Proxmox clusters. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional looking to contribute to the growth and success of CommandLink. This is a Full-Time, 100% Remote opportunity. 

Key Responsibilities:

Linux Server Management:
  • Take ownership of the Linux server environment, ensuring its optimal performance, availability, and security.
  • Install, configure, and maintain Ubuntu servers, applying patches and updates as required.
Ansible Automation:
  • Utilize Ansible for automating system configuration, application deployment, and task automation.
  • Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
  • System Monitoring and Performance Optimization:
  • Monitor server and network performance, proactively identifying and resolving issues to ensure optimal system functionality.
  • Implement monitoring tools and perform capacity planning to support business growth.
Cloud Infrastructure Management:
  • Oversee the administration of our Azure cloud infrastructure, including virtual machines, storage accounts, networks, and security configurations.
  • Collaborate with the team to optimize resource utilization and cost-efficiency.
Datacenter Management:
  • Maintain and monitor our data centers equipped with Proxmox clusters.
  • Handle provisioning, configuration, and troubleshooting of virtual machines, storage, and networking components.
  • Implement high availability and disaster recovery strategies.
MariaDB/Maxscale Administration:
  • Manage and optimize MariaDB databases, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Manage and optimize Maxscale for database load balancing and query routing.
Security and Compliance:
  • Implement and maintain robust security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and access controls.
  • Stay updated with the latest security patches and vulnerabilities, promptly applying appropriate fixes.
  • Ensure compliance with industry best practices and relevant regulations.
Backup and Recovery:
  • Design and implement data backup and recovery procedures to safeguard critical systems and data.
  • Conduct regular backups and perform periodic tests to validate the integrity of backup sets.
Grafana
  • Design and implement Grafana dashboards for monitoring system performance and metrics.
  • Integrate Grafana with various data sources like Prometheus, InfluxDB, and Elasticsearch.
  • Customize and maintain Grafana alerts to proactively identify and address issues.
Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:
  • Create and maintain comprehensive system documentation, including server configurations, network diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
  • Share knowledge and collaborate with team members to enhance overall system administration capabilities.
Troubleshooting and Support:
  • Respond to system-related incidents and service requests, providing timely resolutions and support to end-users.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to address urgent issues outside regular business hours.

What you'll need for success:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Proven experience as a Systems Administrator, preferably in a Linux environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Ubuntu servers, including installation, configuration, and administration.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure cloud services, including virtual machines, storage accounts, and networking.
  • Familiarity with Proxmox clusters in a datacenter environment.
  • Proficiency with Ansible for automation and configuration management.
  • Experience with MariaDB/Maxscale administration.
  • Solid understanding of network protocols, routing, and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) for automation and system monitoring.
  • Experience with security practices and tools, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and vulnerability assessments.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues effectively, both independently and collaboratively.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Red Hat Certified Engineer, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator) are a plus.
  • Experience with PowerShell, related to Azure IaaS administration.
