At Community Phone, we believe that everyone deserves access to reliable and affordable communication services. We're a mission-driven company, committed to providing exceptional landline service that keeps our customers connected to what matters most- starting with our seniors who deserve a landline service that doesn't just connect them, but protects them. We're also revolutionizing the business landscape by keeping them in constant contact with their customers. No more missed opportunities or frustrating interactions with automated systems. We're not just providing a service; we're fostering relationships.

Our innovative technology enables any traditional landline phone to connect over the cellular network through a SIM card inside of our landline base, ensuring uninterrupted service (with power back-up) without the need for Wi-Fi, while offering best in class software features like robust spam call blocking.

As a venture-backed, Y-Combinator graduate, we've evolved from a small team in 2018 to now ~70 fully remote team members spread across 15 countries and even more time zones. We proudly serve over 20,000 customers and clients, ranging from seniors to small businesses to franchises across the United States. As we continue to grow, we're looking for folks who share our passion for improving the lives of our customers through both technology and human connection.

🌟 About the role

As Head of Finance and Operations, you will keep the lights on and make sure the trains run on time. You will be the finance, accounting, and compliance executive at the company. Beyond finance, you will ensure vendor operations, logistics, HR, and recruiting are efficient and low-distraction. Ultimately, that means our employee experience design rolls up to you.

You must have experience running the finance and accounting functions at a fast-growing company. You are someone who says “yes, let me figure it out” rather than “no, that’s not Finance’s job.”

🚀 You will...

Lead our accounting and finance functions:
  • Be the voice of our cash position and growth, building and maintaining our forecast and departmental budgets

  • Ensure the P&L is actionable and the bottom line is improving for all teams, raising alarms when our efficiency isn’t where it should be

  • Ensure our regulatory and tax compliance nationally

  • Manage our accounting agency to guarantee a speedy month-end close

Manage our internal and external operations:

  • Lead Recruiting and HR to ensure our teams are right-sized, engaged, and growing efficiently

  • Own our vendor relationships (telecom, hardware, etc.) to ensure our COGS are aggressively low
  • Orchestrate our inventory management, so we always have the right amount of inventory on hand without requiring oversized orders

🏆  You are...

A Finance superstar:

  • 10+ years of finance and accounting experience, with 5+ years in leadership roles within high-growth, early-stage startups, ideally in the tech sector.

  • Proven track record of scaling financial operations from early-stage to $100M+ revenue, including accounting, FP&A, and cash management.

  • Deep expertise in SaaS/subscription business models, unit economics, and cost management, with the ability to create efficiencies and improve gross margins.

  • Hands-on experience in setting up financial systems and infrastructure, including month-end reporting, preparing financial statements, and maintaining compliance with regulatory and tax requirements across multiple jurisdictions.

  • Skilled in navigating complex regulatory environments; experience in regulated industries, such as telecommunications, is a plus.

Who wants more:

  • You have a track record of delivering operational improvement outside of just finance. That should include team members reporting directly to you who are not just finance or accounting professionals.
  • You have a vision for what an efficient and high performance company looks like, outside of mere financial efficiency – and you have executed that vision.

*Only candidates who attach a cover letter will be considered for this position. Please include information about the growth and scale you've experienced at the companies you've worked with along with a synopsis of the impact you had at each company.
