Art Director

Do you have an eye for design and a passion for leading creative missions? Our team is looking for a new Art Director who is responsible for developing and executing visual direction and creative strategies for online video productions. This position works closely with production teams to develop and implement a project’s overall visual style. While overseeing a team of animators and motion graphic designers, the Art Director executes innovative and engaging design solutions across various platforms and maintains design standards to ensure that projects align with Complexly’s standards and mission of making education accessible for all.

Status: Full-time, Exempt

Reports to: Director of Art and Design

Location: Remote, US-Based

Pay: $69,500 - $80,000 DOE

Candidates must reside in (or be willing to relocate to) one of the following states: (AZ, CA, CO, DC, FL, GA, IL, IN, IA, KS, MD, MA, MI, MO, MT, NJ, NM, NY, NC, OH, OK, OR, PA, TN, UT, VA, WA) 


What you'll do:

  • Conceptualize and execute innovative and engaging design solutions for Complexly projects at the direction of the Director of Art & Design.
  • Lead and mentor a team of visual designers, providing guidance and feedback to their team.
  • Ensure the timely delivery of high-quality work by direct reports to their assigned projects.
  • Maintain and create design standards, brand guidelines, and best practices to ensure consistency and cohesiveness across all Complexly communications.
  • Stay up-to-date with visual and sound design trends to maintain a fresh and current visual brand design.
  • Execute branding style guides at the direction of the Director of Art & Design.
  • Review and approve final designs, ensuring they meet project objectives, brand guidelines, and quality standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • 4-7 years of experience in graphic, visual design, or creative management roles required.
  • Highly proficient verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Highly proficient with Adobe Creative Suite required.
  • Previous leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of design principles, typography, color theory, and layout techniques.
