Director of Engineering

Who We Are

Concert Health is building America’s best behavioral health medical group, enabled by exceptional technology. Through Collaborative Care, an evidence-based model for treating depression and anxiety in primary care settings, Concert makes it easy for primary care physicians to deliver high-quality behavioral health care and improve clinical outcomes.

Concert Health helps primary care providers deliver exceptional, reimbursable, and integrated behavioral health services to their patients. We provide primary care partners with a comprehensive Collaborative Care solution - therapists as care managers, psychiatric providers as consultants, and the progressive technology needed to treat their patients. Our remote team provides evidence-based interventions to promote accurate diagnoses, symptom reduction, treatment plans, and optimal patient outcomes.

We’re looking for an extensive hands-on engineering leader to serve in a critical senior leadership role, helping scale clinical operations to meet the needs of millions of patients.

Who You Are

We’re looking for a seasoned, entrepreneurial, hands-on technology leader to assume leadership of our existing engineering team and partner with our Chief Product & Technology Officer to shape and realize our vision for an end-to-end technology platform that empowers our clinical team to provide excellent care at scale. You are excited to be architecting and building a modern platform for an industry changing tech-enabled health care services.

You enjoy both setting technology strategy and building, scaling and operating efficient engineering teams. You are excited to take ownership of our software engineering & architecture. You have deep architecture and technical chops and can guide the team in building a scalable and robust platform, and roll up your sleeves to code as needed. You love the challenge of making sure roadmap targets are achieved with solutions that are scalable, balanced, and architecturally sound and secure, and ensuring that technical debt is incurred consciously and methodically repaid. You enjoy mentoring developers, supporting their career development and thrive in a remote, async culture.

You have deep expertise across frontend (React) and backend (Typescript, Python, C#) technologies, data architecture and governance, and experience in building modern software platforms on AWS, including integrating with platforms such as Salesforce and other enterprise systems. Preferably, you have experience with EHR integrations using HL7/FHIR, building data-informed products, and integrating AI technologies such as LLMs to enhance functionality and user experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a small multidisciplinary engineering team while delivering high-quality software that empowers clinicians and enhances the patient experience.
  • Partner closely with the CPTO and product team to define the technology strategy, including data and AI strategies to make informed build vs. buy vs. integrate decisions, aligning the roadmap with technical debt and architecture priorities.
  • Architect and build systems on AWS, and custom Salesforce applications that are secure, scalable, resilient, and maintainable, leveraging modern cloud technologies.
  • Lead the EHR integration strategy, overseeing integrations with multiple health systems and ensuring high-fidelity, reliable data exchange using standards such as HL7 and FHIR.
  • Build and maintain robust data pipelines to support analytics, and reporting.
  • Drive the integration of data-informed features and AI technologies, including LLMs, to enhance product functionality and user experience.
  • Promote standardization of system design, enforce software development best practices, implement and maintain reliable CI/CD processes, and ensure clear documentation of systems, processes, and technical decisions.
  • Build and sustain a high-performing engineering culture focused on excellence, reliability, productivity, continuous learning, and growth.
  • Manage technology investments, vendors, and budget.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. or MS. Computer Science, Engineering or relevant experience
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, including 5+ years in technical leadership or architecture roles (e.g., Engineering Manager, Director).
  • Expertise in designing, building, and scaling high-quality, resilient, and observable software on AWS, including distributed backend systems (Typescript, Python, C#, Java) and production-grade frontend applications (React)
  • Proven success leading multidisciplinary engineering teams in fast-paced, product-driven environments, including remote and asynchronous teams.
  • Proven ability to implement scalable CI/CD processes that support fast iteration while maintaining system reliability and security.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of agile development and lean product methodologies, with experience balancing roadmap delivery and technical debt.

Preferred Experience:

  • Background in healthcare technology, clinical systems integration, or compliance-driven environments (e.g., HIPAA, SOC 2).
  • Experience working with electronic health records (EHRs) and healthcare interoperability standards such as HL7 and FHIR.
  • Prior experience in early-stage or growth-stage startup environments, scaling both engineering teams and technology platforms.
  • Experience building data-informed products and integrating AI/ML technologies into user-facing applications.
  • Experience building Salesforce applications, including integrations with other systems and leveraging platform capabilities through custom code (Apex, Lightning, or similar).

What We Offer:

  • $210,000 - $230,000 base pay based on experience and geographic location
  • 10% bonus potential
  • Monday - Friday | 40 hours per week
  • Fully remote work environment
  • A supportive and inclusive culture
  • Excellent benefits package
  • 401K, paid holidays, unlimited PTO, and sick time
  • Technology and all the tools you need to succeed
