Paint Process Specialist

Conco, Inc. is a full time, full service supplier of ammunition containers and container-related services. From the most basic container models to the latest "insensitive munitions" features, our corporate focus is on fully meeting your ammunition container requirements. Conco produces several rectangular box designs and a broad range of cylindrical containers including both the older style round bell containers and the many current models of square bell containers, including the latest insensitive munitions "window" designs.

Conco also provides many container related services including container modification, design assistance, special features, full stenciling, tactical palletization, special colors, internal packaging installation, sticker and label application, prototyping, small batch production and bringing new designs to production. Conco also offers complete and partial container refurbishment and container re-use preparation.

We are located in Louisville, Kentucky and Scottsburg, IN.   We are currently the prime contract container supplier for several U.S. Army ammunition programs.    ISO 9001:2015 certified.

Job Title:      Paint Process Specialist

 

Reports to:     Maintenance Manager

 

Job Summary:

The Paint Process Specialist is responsible for operating and maintaining the pretreatment, painting and waste water treatment systems. This position is responsible for ensuring the quality of painted product is acceptable through hourly quality checks of the pretreatment and painting processes. Product must be checked at least hourly in the wet and dry paint state through the entire shift.  If any unacceptable condition is identified, the Paint Process Specialist is responsible for correcting the findings and must notify the Maintenance Manager and/or Paint Engineer as well as with the corresponding Paint Process Specialists. Performs maintenance of spray guns, maintains painting robots and other paint equipment. Cleans spray paint booths and tanks; cleans and maintains pretreatment / paint line equipment. Changes filters in paint booths as required. Must be able to clean and prepare system for operation in advance of regular shift start up on a daily basis. Maintains chemical solutions in pretreatment system by following prescribed titrations and making adjustments to chemical feeds as necessary. Maintains waste water treatment system to ensure compliance of all water discharged from the facility is compliant. Performs various duties such as process improvements, continuous improvement activities, problem-solving tools and techniques, project work, new equipment set up and installation and work on existing equipment and machinery. Under direction of the Maintenance Manager and/or Paint Engineer this position is expected to be available for weekend maintenance, cleaning and other continuous improvement tasks.

 

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Must possess functional and trouble-shooting knowledge of paint machinery and equipment (Diaphragm Pumps, Paint Mixers, Fluid Control Systems, Spray Guns, Robots).
  • Must possess functional and trouble-shooting knowledge of Waste Water Treatment chemistry and maintenance.
  • Assist with inventory control of chemicals, spray guns, plumbing parts, etc. Create PO’s and submit to the Maintenance Manager and/or Paint Engineer.
  • This individual is required to keep logs and charts associated with the system; and at times be involved in discussions concerning the system with officials both internal and external.
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance (PM’s) activities per the PM schedule for Pretreatment / Paint line and Waste Water Treatment.
  • Available for occasional travel in conjunction with assigned duties.
  • Must be available for external educational opportunities as needed.
  • Must be able to lift, push and pull 50 lbs. Must be able to climb ladders.
  • Turn in all paperwork associated with Wash Line, Paint Area and Waste Water Treatment to the Maintenance Manager and/or Paint Engineer daily.
  • Seek out continuous improvement projects and relay recommendations to the Maintenance Manager and/or Paint Engineer.
  • The above description covers some of the duties performed, but does not exclude other work assignments and/or duties that may be deemed necessary to enhance or maintain processes.
  • Must follow all Conco policies and work rules, safety procedures and processes established by the Company and/or required by OSHA standards.

Qualifications:

Education / Experience:

Prior experience with Paint, Finishing, and Waste Water Treatment Processes

Prior Robotic experience

Must be qualified as a forklift operator

Must complete Lockout/Tag out Training

Must be able to work well with people at all levels of the Company.
