About the Role


We’re seeking a Sales Engineer who bridges deep technical understanding with commercial and strategic thinking. This role is equal parts technologist, problem-solver, and communicator.


You’ll partner with Account Executives, Delivery Leads, and Solution Engineers to help prospective clients see how the power of AI combined with Contextual’s unique expertise and platform capabilities can transform their business. You’ll dive into their challenges, design proof-of-concepts, and show — not just tell — how our team and tools can deliver outcomes.


This is not a traditional SaaS pre-sales role. You’re not selling “features.” You’re selling how Contextual can uniquely solve complex business problems through orchestrated, end-to-end AI systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Sales and Delivery teams to understand client needs, industry context, and desired outcomes.
  • Rapidly prototype or design proof-of-concept solutions using the Contextual.io platform.
  • Conduct operational and technical discovery sessions with client stakeholders.
  • Translate complex processes into clear, actionable AI solutions for executive and business audiences.
  • Partner with Solution Engineers and Delivery Leads to define solution architectures and engagement scopes.
  • Present and demo relevant use cases and case studies that align with a prospect’s needs.
  • Lead proposal development and SOW definition, ensuring feasibility and clarity.
  • Maintain deep awareness of AI trends, orchestration patterns, and applied machine learning / LLM use cases.
  • Serve as the trusted technical voice in the sales process — credible to CTO, CIO, COO and CEO audiences along with all organization stakeholders.

Requirements

Technical & Product Skills

  • 5+ years in a technical pre-sales, solution engineering, or consulting role in AI, ML, data platforms, or enterprise software.
  • Experience building prototypes or PoCs (preferably on workflow automation platforms like UIPath or Automation Anywhere).
  • Understanding of AI model orchestration, LLMs, data pipelines, event-based architectures and workflow automation.
  • Ability to map technical capabilities to business outcomes.

Consultative & Business Acumen

  • Skilled at engaging business and technical stakeholders alike at all levels of an organization.
  • Proven ability to identify patterns in customer problems and articulate how prior solutions apply.
  • Comfort discussing ROI, transformation, and operational implications of AI solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills — clear, concise, and confident in front of clients.
