As Contour Education launches in New South Wales, we are hiring a State Subject Curriculum Lead for Mathematics Advanced and Extension: the person who owns the source of truth for how the subject is learned at Contour. You bring your vision of the subject, and we give you the platform to turn it into a real, tangible course that will shape how hundreds, then thousands, of students learn and think.

Our mission is reshaping education, and this role is where that actually happens. You make the strategic calls on curriculum, sequencing, and assessment preparation, then direct what gets built from them, reporting directly to the national Head of Subject. Rather than writing every question yourself, you steer content production and act as the quality gate, building a compounding body of knowledge from the ground up.

This isn’t a marking-and-admin role. It is a founding, remote/hybrid, part-time position (8-24 hours per week, depending on how many Maths courses you take on (Advanced, Extension 1, Extension 2)) with complete strategic ownership of your subject in NSW. You take a blank page and turn NESA guidelines into a premium, state-specific programme built to scale.

Love teaching as much as designing? This role pairs naturally with our HSC Mathematics Tutor (Advanced and Extension) position (in-person, Sydney). You can apply for both simultaneously, and many of our best leads do exactly that. The remote flexibility applies to the Curriculum Lead work; tutoring happens on campus.

What You Will Do

As our State Subject Curriculum Lead, you’ll own the educational source of truth for Mathematics Advanced and Extension across NSW and strategically direct everything built from it.

• Map: Build and maintain the curriculum source of truth for your subject, mapping out NESA syllabuses, recurring exam questions, and common student pitfalls.
• Pace: Translate curriculum insights into live topic sequencing, question-type maps, and school-specific workshops kept 1-2 weeks ahead of local classrooms.
• Support: Design the targeted materials and support systems students need to conquer internal assessments, optimise their school ranks, and ace the HSC.
• Direct: Plan educational resources upstream from the source of truth, briefing and steering Resource Developers so production never bottlenecks on you.
• Govern: Act as the final quality gate, signing off on all subject materials with absolute polish while continuously pushing curriculum innovation.

What You Will Bring

You qualify through either pathway:

• As a top graduate: 98+ ATAR with a Band 6 in HSC Mathematics Advanced and/or an E4 in Mathematics Extension 1 or 2. State ranks are ideal, but not compulsory.
• Or as an experienced teacher: you have taught HSC Mathematics Advanced and Extension at a school. If you’ve taught it, you don’t need the ATAR or band requirements above.

And in either case:

• Deep curriculum expertise and strong opinions on how the subject is sequenced, taught, and examined under NESA.
• Excellent documentation skills with a focus on building durable, written educational frameworks.
• Uncompromising attention to detail with an obsession for error-free work and polished formatting.
• High operational bandwidth to hit tight production deadlines and patch issues proactively.
• Comfort using modern software and AI tooling to accelerate documentation and drafting on top of your own craft (preferred).
• Alignment with Contour’s student-first mission and a passion for reshaping education.
