About the role

The SIS Manager is a pivotal leadership role responsible for steering the Student Information System (SIS) strategy, execution, and overall performance, ensuring the system's alignment with our institution's strategic objectives and operational needs. This role demands a visionary leader who can unify SIS-related efforts across departments, optimize resource use, champion change management, and drive continuous system improvement and utilization.

What you'll do

Centralized Leadership
  • Serve as the primary accountability point for all SIS-related strategies, executions, and performance outcomes.
  • Provide cohesive leadership and strategic direction across various SIS modules and business processes, ensuring synergy and consistency.
Strategic Alignment
  • Align SIS initiatives and enhancements with the institution's overarching goals and strategic imperatives.
  • Translate broader institutional strategies into actionable SIS capabilities, fostering operational excellence and competitive positioning.
Optimized Resource Utilization
  • Oversee and ensure the judicious allocation and utilization of all SIS-related resources, prioritizing based on strategic value and potential ROI.
  • Assist in managing the SIS resources ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and financial objectives.
Project Management
  • Oversee SIS-related projects from conception through completion, ensuring they align with institutional priorities and are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Utilize project management best practices to define project scopes, set timelines, allocate resources, and track progress.
  • Facilitate cross-departmental collaboration to ensure project success and stakeholder satisfaction, addressing any challenges or roadblocks promptly and effectively.
Change Management and User Adoption
  • Lead comprehensive change management strategies to maximize SIS adoption and operational integration.
  • Develop and implement training and communication plans to bolster user competence and engagement.
Risk Management and Compliance
  • Proactively identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks associated with SIS functionalities and usage.
  • Ensure strict adherence to relevant industry regulations, standards, and best practices within the SIS landscape.
Data Integrity and Analytics
  • Oversee the management of data within the SIS, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and actionable insights.
  • Establish and maintain robust reporting to track SIS performance metrics and usage statistics.
  • Leverage data analytics tools to create dynamic and visual reports for campus.
Vendor and Stakeholder Management
  • Cultivate and manage productive relationships with SIS vendors and service providers, ensuring alignment with institutional expectations and value delivery.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders to understand needs, communicate value, and foster collaborative partnerships.
Continuous Improvement and Innovation
  • Champion ongoing enhancements and innovations within the SIS environment.
  • Evaluate and introduce SIS advancements and best practices, ensuring the institution remains at the forefront of SIS technology.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy to inform the campus community of SIS software updates, ensuring widespread awareness and understanding.
IT Committee and Data Governance
  • Lead a campus-wide IT committee and data governance, fostering an inclusive platform for discussion, innovation, and shared governance in technology-related decisions.
  • Set agendas, facilitate meetings, and encourage active participation from committee members, representing a diverse cross-section of the campus community.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in SIS management, preferably with Jenzabar, within a higher education environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership in technology strategy, project management, and change management.
  • Strong understanding of higher education operational workflows, data management, and compliance requirements.
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to translate strategic objectives into technological solutions.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive environment that promotes staff development and high performance.
