What will the Intern, Underwriting and Growth do?
We’re looking for a motivated, curious, and detail-oriented Summer Intern to join our Underwriting & Growth teams. You’ll gain hands-on experience in the insurance industry while supporting key operational functions like post-bind audits, sales analytics, and data cleansing. This is a great opportunity for students looking to explore careers in insurance, insurtech, analytics, or business operations.
Internship Timeline: Expected to continue through the end of Summer 2025.
- Support Underwriting Quality: Help conduct post-bind audits to ensure policies meet underwriting guidelines and compliance standards.
- Loss Run Coordination: Work with internal teams and external partners to track and retrieve required loss run documentation.
- Sales Reporting: Assist with compiling and cleaning sales and producer data to support our growth leaders in providing updated reports to our partners and to assist in maximizing growth.
- Business Development Data Projects: Help scrub, segment, and organize prospective and current agency data to support prospecting and marketing campaigns.
- Learn the Industry: Collaborate with experienced underwriters, analysts, and sales professionals to understand how insurance products are priced, distributed, and managed in the real world.
What we are looking for:
- Undergraduate student (junior or senior) pursuing a degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Business, Finance, Analytics, or a related field.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Comfortable using spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets); bonus if you’ve worked with CRM or reporting tools.
- Effective communicator who’s eager to learn and take initiative.
- Passion or curiosity about insurance, technology, or entrepreneurship is a plus.
Our interview process:
Our hiring process generally consists of 3 phases. The goal is to provide an opportunity for us to learn more about our candidates while allowing them to get to know us as well!
- Phase 1: Qualified candidates will first meet with a member of our People Operations team for a phone interview. This discussion is a high-level conversation to understand more about your background and interests and for us to share more about Coterie and the position.
- Phase 2: Selected candidates will be invited to participate in our PDP survey and meet with our Hiring Manager for a 2nd interview via Teams video. This interview is designed to be more detail oriented and allows you to learn more about the role
- Phase 3: Top candidates will receive an invite for our final interview series via Teams video. This series will include an experiential exercise project (provided in advance), 1:1 interviews with selected team members. The final series is roughly 1.5-3 hours in total but can be scheduled over a few days for flexibility.
