What will the Sr Software Engineer do?
We are looking for an experienced software engineer to join our team! We're using modern tech to make it easy for people and businesses to get the insurance coverage they need. You'll help build and test systems that break the mold for the industry. The insurance industry is known for slow, clunky tools that weren't built with the user in mind. We made them fast and reliable and now we’re making them even better.
As a Sr. Software Engineer, you will build and write tests for our APIs and event systems, as well as aid leadership in architectural designs. As you hit the ground running you will be able to develop and document new services, as well as refine and improve our existing products. In addition, you also work very closely with our delivery team in helping create a development strategy that fits our product roadmaps.

What we are looking for:
- Experience building production-ready APIs in C# with .NET 5+
- Experience writing Unit tests, automated integration tests (Postman or equivalent) and an appreciation of the value of well-tested code.
- An understanding of architectural design fundamentals
- Experience solving insurance problems by leveraging modern software practices.
- Experience working within a micro-services architecture in a containerized environment.
- Experience and interest in mentoring junior engineers
- Experience using Git and GitHub to collaborate and review code.
What will make you stand out:
- Experience with Microsoft Azure or other cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, etc.)
- Experience writing documentation or self-documenting code.
- SDET Experience
- Experience with Trunk based deployments
Our interview process:
Our hiring process generally consists of 3 phases. The goal is to provide an opportunity for us to learn more about our candidates while allowing them to get to know us as well!
- Phase 1: Qualified candidates will first meet with a member of our People Operations team for a phone interview. This discussion is a high-level conversation to understand more about your background and interests and for us to share more about Coterie and the position.
- Phase 2: Selected candidates will be invited to participate in our PDP survey and meet with our Hiring Manager for a 2nd interview via Teams video. This interview is designed to be more detail oriented and allows you to learn more about the role. Top candidates will then be invited to participate in a coding exercise.
- Phase 3: Pending the results and review of the coding exercise, finalists will receive an invite for our final interview series via Teams video. This series will include 1:1 interviews with selected team members and a coding deep-dive interview with the hiring manager. The final series is roughly 1.5-3 hours in total but can be scheduled over a few days for flexibility.
