Customer Support Scientist

Description: We are seeking a highly motivated and technically proficient Customer Support Scientist with a background in analytical sciences, chemistry, engineering, physics, and/or materials science. This role is integral to our commitment to excellence in customer service and technical support for rapid response to our clients’ materials analysis need, including failure analysis and advanced compositional projects. The ideal candidate will excel in providing technical guidance, engaging with customers, and serving as a knowledgeable interface between our company and potential clients.

Desired Qualifications

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree or higher in materials science, analytical sciences, chemistry, engineering, or a related field.  Prior hands-on experience with testing instrumentation is preferred.
  • Proven track record of technical expertise and experience in materials science and analytical sciences.
  • Breadth of knowledge in materials characterization techniques.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with a talent for explaining complex technical concepts in an accessible manner.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a results-oriented approach.
  • Ability to work independently, proactively, and as part of a collaborative team.
  • A friendly and approachable demeanor, demonstrating patience and professionalism.
  • Dependable and punctual, committed to exceeding customer expectations.
  • 3+ years of product support experience.
  • Detailed organizational skills, a clear thinker, and a disciplined business approach.

Physical Requirements:

  • Sitting & standing for long periods of time in an office setting
  • Extensive phone and computer use required for the majority of the workday.
  • Requires a mix of virtual and onsite meetings.
  • Lifting 15 lb. safely on occasion

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provide high-level technical support and guidance to customers with inquiries related to materials testing and laboratory analytical sciences.
  • Ensure prompt and accurate responses to customer questions and concerns, resolving technical issues effectively.
  • Respond to quote request forms and technical inquiries submitted through the website.
  • Qualify leads by gathering necessary technical information for evaluation, quoting and execution of jobs.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable interface between the company and potential customers, effectively conveying the technical advantages of our services and solutions.
  • Build trust and confidence through clear and concise communication of complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Proactively follow up with customers, technical leads, operations, and sales to build strong, lasting relationships.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by proactively addressing their technical needs and concerns, facilitating resolution through collaboration with internal lab teams.
  • Interact with the scientists in the Covalent laboratory as well as with scientists at our partner labs, serving as the interface between customer and scientist.
  • Technical writing skills, taking lab results and synthesizing them into reports for our customers.

The pay range for this role is:

110,000 - 130,000 USD per year (Remote)
