The mission of the Senior Accountant at Cozey
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for maintaining financial records, implementing and improving financial processes, managing the relationship with audit and tax consultants, and performing general accounting functions. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, the ability to be a self-starter, have a willingness to learn, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. What you'll be doing
- Project Management & Execution: Lead or support project to provide financial guidance and ensure the successful execution of projects plans.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and lead the implementation of best practices.
- Month-End & General Ledger Management: Maintain the general ledger by managing the chart of account, managing month-end close, ensuring all ledger entries are accurate, up to date and are compliant with ASPE.
- Financial Analysis: Analyze monthly financial results and investigate any material variances, presenting findings to the Director of Finance and the CFO.
- Inventory Accounting: Assist in managing and reconciling inventory data in collaboration with operations and technology teams.
- Expense Tracking & Budgeting: Help monitor expenses by implementing best practices around expense tracking and ensuring accuracy of budget-to-actual comparisons.
- Treasury: Help implement and operationalize cash flow management, deposit analysis, and own the accounting for commodity and currency hedging.
- Tax Compliance: Assist in tax filings, ensuring compliance with local and federal regulations. Take ownership of operationalizing transfer pricing.
- Audit Support: Prepare documentation for audits and lead year-end and interim audit with external auditors.
We'd love to hear from you if you have
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
- 3 + years of experience in accounting, preferably at a Big 4 accounting firm. Ideal profile is someone who worked both in industry and Big 4.
- Proficiency with the office suite, especially Excel.
- Knowledge of an accounting software or ERP, preferably NetSuite, is a plus.
- Knowledge of ASPE and IFRS.
- Knowledge of Canadian tax laws and regulations.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to simplify financial jargon and work cross-departmentally.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
