This is a hybrid role (three days per week at our HQ in Chicago, IL) and will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

The Role

Crafty is seeking a Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Manager to lead the company’s budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning efforts. This role will own and continually update Crafty’s financial models, provide insightful analysis to support strategic decision-making, and help drive profitability and cash flow improvements. You will report to our CFO and will work closely with cross-functional leaders, providing visibility into business performance and helping guide operational and investment decisions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Budget Ownership & Management: Lead the annual budgeting process and manage ongoing reforecasts. Collaborate with department heads to align on targets, track performance, and adjust forecasts based on actual results and market trends. Run monthly department budget reviews with budget owners.
  • Forecasting & Financial Modeling: Maintain and enhance Crafty’s operating models (P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow). Build dynamic financial models to support scenario planning, strategic initiatives, and growth opportunities.
  • Cash Flow Forecasting: Partner with Accounting and Operations to deliver accurate 13-week rolling cash flow forecasts. Identify risks and opportunities, and provide actionable insights to optimize working capital.
  • Strategic Financial Analysis: Provide ad hoc financial analysis to support business decisions, including hiring plans, new market expansion, and customer profitability analysis.
  • Cost Optimization Support: Partner with teams to identify and assess cost-saving opportunities, including procurement strategies, staffing models, and logistics optimization.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Serve as a finance business partner to cross-functional teams, including the Data Team, Sales, RevOps, Operations, and People. Help them understand financial performance, track goals, and evaluate new initiatives.
  • Process Improvement & Scalability: Continuously assess and improve FP&A processes and tools to enhance efficiency and scalability as Crafty grows.

Ideal Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field. MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in FP&A, investment banking, or financial consulting, preferably in a fast-growing or technology-enabled environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets and financial modeling. Experience with financial systems (e.g., NetSuite, Tableau, or similar BI tools) is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience managing budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.

Role Goals

  • Deliver Accurate Forecasts: Update and maintain financial models that provide reliable forecasts for revenue, expenses, and cash flow. By Q4 2025, achieve revenue, expenses, and cash flow projections within <5% variance against actuals.
  • Drive Insightful Analysis: Deliver actionable insights through financial analysis to support strategic initiatives and operational improvements. Deliver at least three deep-dive financial analyses per quarter starting in Q2=3 2025, focused on key business questions (e.g., customer profitability, pricing sensitivity, or channel performance), with clear recommendations that inform strategic decisions by leadership.
  • Enable Strategic Planning: Support leadership with scenario analysis, investment evaluations, and financial impact assessments for growth initiatives. Support the 2026 annual planning cycle by delivering at least 3 scenario models (e.g., base, upside, downside) by November 1, 2025, including key financial impacts and strategic recommendations for leadership review.
  • Streamline FP&A Processes: Identify and implement process improvements that increase the efficiency and scalability of budgeting and forecasting. By October 2025, reduce the budget and forecast cycle time by 25% by identifying and implementing at least three process improvements or automation solutions (e.g., templates, BI tool integrations).

Compensation for this role is targeted at $100,000 - $115,000 per year in Chicago, IL. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including location, experience, and expertise.
