The Crane Center is a world-renowned Transgender surgical practice, with clinical locations in Greenbrae, CA, Boulder, CO, and Austin, TX. We have eight highly specialized surgeons and a multidisciplinary clinical team, which allows us to offer all aspects of gender-affirming surgery.


About the role

The Clinical Assistant serves as a liaison between patients and providers. They support efficient clinical operations and deliver excellent patient care in a fast-paced environment. This position plays a key role in ensuring efficient patient flow, accurate documentation, and high-quality patient care.


Key Responsibilities

  • Pre-op and post-op patient care in the clinic setting
  • Assist surgeons & physician assistants during office visits, rooming patients, vital signs, taking medical histories, wound care, suture removal, preparing for exams, etc.
  • Collection of laboratory specimens
  • Assists with maintaining a clean and orderly environment.
  • Transcribes patient orders, including but not limited to laboratory tests, radiology tests, and medications.
  • Performs basic clerical duties, including answering the phone, maintaining records, and filing.
  • Performs basic materials management functions, including stocking of supplies and preparing lists for re-ordering supplies.
  • General office skills including keyboarding, office computer software, filing, answering telephones, email, faxing, and copying.
  • Maintains confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations in handling patient information.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Key Qualifications

  • Must have recent clinic experience
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to work well as part of a team and independently
  • Must be organized, able to multitask, and have excellent computer skills
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology
  • Experience with EMR System Athena - Preferred
  • Experience utilizing MAC and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to speak, read, and write Spanish - Preferred

Education / Experience Required

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Certification in either CMA, CNA, PCT, EMT, or similar
  • BLS Provider credential from the American Heart Association (AHA) - Preferred

Work Location

  • Austin, TX

Work Hours

  • This is a full-time position on-site
  • Normal work hours will be Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
