Distribution & Copyright Specialist

Job Summary

Create Music Group is seeking a Distribution & Copyright Specialist to join our Distribution Department. This role focuses on copyright enforcement and DMCA takedowns while also supporting core music distribution operations. You will work closely with our Legal, Rights Management, Client Relations, and Distribution teams to ensure accurate handling of intellectual property matters and the smooth delivery of music across digital platforms.

This is a detail-driven role ideal for someone with a strong understanding of copyright processes who is also comfortable supporting day-to-day distribution workflows in a fast-paced environment.


Responsibilities

Copyright Enforcement & Claims

  • Review incoming copyright claims from DSPs, other distributors, and labels.
  • Submit outgoing copyright claims and DMCA takedown notices across platforms including YouTube, Meta (Facebook/Instagram), SoundCloud, TikTok, and others.
  • Track and follow up on takedowns, counter-notices, disputes, and platform responses.
  • Research and identify unauthorized uses of client content using both manual and automated methods.
  • Maintain accurate records, logs, and documentation of claims, disputes, and enforcement activity.
  • Produce summary reports on enforcement efforts as needed.
  • Communicate with internal teams, clients, platforms, and infringing parties to resolve issues or escalate when necessary.
  • Coordinate with Legal and Client Relations teams on high-priority cases or repeat infringements.

Distribution Support

  • Support the ingestion and scheduling of music releases across DSPs (Spotify, Apple Music, etc.).
  • Assist with metadata entry, quality control, and asset management (audio files, artwork, and related materials).
  • Coordinate and track delivery timelines to ensure releases go live as scheduled.
  • Assist with catalog onboarding, including metadata uploads, asset organization, and formatting checks.
  • Monitor deliveries to DSPs and flag ingestion or delivery issues.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Distribution team, including data entry, file organization, and calendar coordination.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications 

  • 1–2 years of experience in copyright enforcement, DMCA processing, legal compliance, or digital music rights (internships acceptable).
  • Working knowledge of U.S. Copyright Law and the DMCA process.
  • Experience using CMS or reporting tools across major platforms such as YouTube, Meta, SoundCloud, and TikTok.
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong written communication and documentation skills.
  • Able to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with digital music distribution processes is a plus.

Pay Scale

  • $25 - $28/per hour 
  • The final compensation within this range will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, skills, and overall fit for the role.
