Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Music Conflict Resolution to lead our YouTube CMS and multi-platform content protection efforts, ensuring our clients' music is properly claimed, monetized, and safeguarded.
Responsibilities
YouTube CMS & Content Management
- Oversee ownership conflicts on CMG’s YouTube Content Management System (CMS), ensuring that conflicts are tracked, addressed and resolved.
- Create a system to manage conflicts and work with multiple intercompany departments including contracts, data, PMs/A&Rs to investigate and resolve conflicts
- Track revenues unlocked by conflict resolution efforts
- Work with CMGs YouTube Rights Management team to implement conflict resolution outcomes
Additional Content Protection & Conflict Resolution
- Investigate and resolve split-rights conflicts, incorrect claims, and unauthorized uploads across YouTube, Meta, TikTok, and other platforms.
- Proactively analyze metadata inconsistencies and ownership disputes to prevent revenue loss.
- Escalate complex rights conflicts to platform representatives and legal teams as needed.
- Develop best practices for claim workflows to minimize content ID mismatches and manual claim issues.
Backend Tools & Data Analysis
- Use YouTube CMS Admin, Advanced Reporting, and API-based data tools to track rights conflicts.
- Generate reports on Content ID match rates, revenue trends, and claim resolution metrics.
- Work with the internal BI team to refine data-driven rights enforcement strategies.
Policy Compliance
- Stay up to date on copyright law, platform policies, and digital rights enforcement trends.
- Implement automated content claiming strategies while ensuring compliance with UGC policies.
Collaboration
- Work cross-functionally with operations, legal, publishing, and business development teams to maximize rights enforcement and revenue recovery.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in YouTube CMS management or/or digital rights management within the music industry.
- Deep knowledge of YouTube Content ID, Meta Rights Manager, and TikTok Rights Protection tools.
- Strong familiarity with UGC monetization, revenue attribution, and backend CMS tools.
- Music Royalty Accounting Knowledge - Understanding how digital rights revenue flows from platforms (e.g., YouTube, Meta, TikTok) through distributors and rights holders.
- Experience with YouTube’s CMS backend
- Publishing & Mechanical Royalties Knowledge – Understanding revenue from performance rights organizations (PROs) like ASCAP, BMI, SESAC.
- Knowledge of bulk ingestion, metadata management, and API-based rights enforcement tools.
- Revenue Attribution & Forecasting – The ability to track unlocked revenue trends from conflict resolution efforts
- Contract Interpretation – Ability to read and interpret licensing agreements, ensuring that all revenue from conflicts is rightfully claimed.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills with a strong ability to identify and resolve rights conflicts.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for internal and external partner engagement.
- Negotiation Skills – Working with content owners, distributors, and legal teams to recover lost revenue from misattributed content.
