Job Summary

 

The Regional Director, Field Medical Excellence will implement field medical functional territory plans aligned with Medical Affairs strategy to enable high-quality, impactful Health Care Provider engagements with a consistent approach. This role will drive operational excellence across the regions.

 

Primary Relationships

 

  • Within Cristcot, the Regional Director, Field Medical Excellence will collaborate closely with the head of Field Medical Affairs, Medical Strategy, Clinical Development, Market Access and Commercial.
  • Outside Cristcot, the Regional Director, Field Medical Excellence will develop and maintain relationships with healthcare practitioners and opinion leaders.

 

Primary Job Responsibilities

 

The Regional Director Field Medical Excellence is a field-based, player/coach role responsible for managing a team of regional Medical Science Liaisons in support of a best-in-class Medical Affairs organization.  

 

 

The activities of the Regional Director, Field Medical Excellence:

 

  • Lead development of Medical Science Liaison territory engagement plans
  • Implement consistent metrics framework including real time dashboard capabilities, support CRM enhancements, and lead best practice sharing Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all activities.
  • Ensure implementation of established foundational functional strategies across all regions including Scientific Engagement Model, Medical Expert Engagement Planning, Coaching Framework, Field Impact Assessment, MSL functional onboarding, Clinical Trial Support Framework, etc.
  • Partner with Senior Director of Field Medical Affairs to understand Regional needs/challenges, align on strategy/solutions/initiatives/projects and co-create throughout the process,
  •  Collaborate with Directors, Medical Affairs Strategy Teams, and cross-functionally to ensure consistent insight topics of interest are collected.
  • Identify Medical Experts, consultants, investigators, and healthcare professionals. Ensures timely, effective, and appropriate communication of current and emerging medical and scientific information on Cristcot therapeutic disease areas and/or product support of appropriate prescribing, improved patient outcomes.
  • Present data on Cristcot products to HCPs including physicians, academic institutions, researchers, and allied health care professionals, consistent with all relevant policies and procedures.
  • Engage with HCPs to bring back critical customer insights and feedback.
  • Conduct scientific exchanges related to Cristcot’s products at Centers of Excellence and Academic Medical Centers. Ensure that healthcare organizations have the latest information on Cristcot disease state and/or products resulting in appropriate prescribing and improved patient outcomes.
  • Field therapeutic area expert demonstrating high scientific knowledge and competency of Cristcot therapeutic disease states, products, and competitor data. Serve as a local medical and scientific resource to Cristcot for product planning, clinical insights, and intelligence. Bring together, synthesize and deliver HCP derived scientific insights.
  • Support research and development programs as requested by R&D, Clinical Operations, and Medical Affairs Departments. This may include trial site identification, ongoing recruitment motivation, and issue/problem solving.
  • Provide medical and scientific support to payers, commercial managed markets, and related health care organizations to facilitate access to Cristcot’s medications for appropriate patients. Demonstrate strong competency in medical and scientific exchange to healthcare organizations.
  • Deliver and implement effective product and disease-state training and mentoring to internal colleagues.
  • Identify, develop, and maintain credible relationships with key medical, pharmacy, and health outcomes influencers within the territory for assigned accounts.
  • Provide timely, fair balanced, objective, scientific and evidence-based medical information, and education to health care customers within managed markets/healthcare/payor systems, in addition to other unique healthcare influencers.
  • Full support and execution of Medical Affairs plans aligned with overall company goals and asset strategy.

 

Skills and Qualifications:

 

  • An advanced degree in the life sciences field (PharmD, PhD, MD, and NP/PA) or relevant field medical experience.
  • Gastroenterology and ulcerative colitis experience strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as MSL required, with previous line management experience.
  • Effective presentation skills and advanced proficiency in interpersonal skills (listening, probing, persuasiveness, negotiation) are essential for engaging successfully and productively with HCPs, external customers, field colleagues, and internal partners.
  • Knowledge of the PhRMA code of conduct, the Sunshine Act, HIPAA regulations, Promotional Regulations, and all laws and regulations that are applicable to the role.
  • Is able to quickly understand and dialogue on subjects that are at the interface between medicine and policy which are relevant to Cristcot’s areas of interest (disease condition, patient reported outcomes, competitive pipelines and lifecycle plans, medical and pharmacy benefits, quality programs, etc.).
  • Up to 50% domestic travel; some of which will be overnight in nature.
