Job Summary
The Associate Director of Data Science will leverage their strong knowledge of data science and proficiency with data analytics to analyze various forms of data to inform key business decisions for the launch of Cristcot’s novel ulcerative colitis treatment. The Associate Director will develop data analysis plans and execute insightful data analytics to answer key business questions that will shape the go-to-market business decisions for the launch product. Working collaboratively across the organization, the Associate Director of Data Science will turn analytics into actionable insights that will lead to winning business strategies and exceptional brand performance in a competitive marketplace. To be successful, the Associate Director needs excellent project management skills, strong communication skills, and must deliver high quality analytics and insights that compel clear business action and deliver business results.
Primary Relationships
- Within Cristcot, the Associate Director of Data Science will collaborate closely with cross functional teams, including Marketing, Commercial Operations, Sales, Medical Affairs, etc.
- Outside Cristcot, the Associate Director of Data science will engage with external agency partners, consultants, and advisors.
Primary Job Responsibilities
The Associate Director of Commercial Data Science is a critically important role that will guide strategic and tactical business decisions for Cristcot’s launch asset by using data science expertise, analytics skills, strategic thinking, and pharmaceutical data experience. The Associate Director will leverage their data science skills to formulate comprehensive data analytics plans, perform insightful analyses, and translate information into actionable recommendations. Moreover, the role involves leading the development, execution and interpretation of data, analytics, insights and models to inform business decision making.
The Activities of the Associate Director of Data Science will include, but are not limited to:
- Manage all facets of data acquisition, data management, data analytics, and related insights generation to support launch excellence, to develop a winning brand strategy, and to achieve exceptional brand performance.
- Translate business questions and business needs into data analytics approaches and deliverables that render actionable recommendations to drive brand performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional team members to deliver clear and actionable insights that maximize business impact.
- Provide cutting-edge insights into physicians, patients, and payers by using secondary data (e.g., claims data, prescription data, and market access data) as well as internal data sets (e.g., field force promotional data, social media data, advertising, CRM, and other data sources).
- Work closely with Marketing, Field Teams, Commercial Operations, Market Access, and Medical Affairs teams to integrate and analyze various data sources to provide data-driven insights that inform winning business strategies.
- Collaborate with data science and market research colleagues to create/leverage leading-edge capabilities, streamlined processes, and inspiring deliverables to empower key stakeholders with customer and market insights that drive business performance (e.g., key driver analyses, patient & HCP engagement models, marketing campaign effectiveness modeling, and marketing mix, among others.
- Identify, explore, test, and implement innovative data science/analytics capabilities, tools, and processes to stay ahead of the competition and to deliver faster business impact (i.e., various forms of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, advanced modeling, next-level prediction algorithms, and others).
Skills and Qualifications:
- Advanced degree preferred (master’s or Ph.D.), but no less than bachelor’s degree in data science, business, psychology, statistics, economics, mathematics, life sciences, computer science, or a related field that requires data analytics skills.
- 5+ years of experience in pharmaceutical data science, data/brand analytics, commercial analytics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry preferred.
- Proficiency in programming languages (i.e., SQL, Python, R) and experience with business intelligence tools (i.e., Tableau, Power BI, Zoho Analytics, others).
- Experience with pharmaceutical data sources such as IQVIA, Komodo, Symphony Health, MMIT, and other secondary data sources. Knowledge of and experience with longitudinal patient data and claims data preferred.
- Demonstrated success in leading and collaborating with data analytics agencies that service the pharmaceutical or biotech industries.
- Excellent communication, project management, and storytelling skills to translate data analytics and insights into actionable business recommendations.
- Ability to travel up to 15%.
