About the role
The HR Generalist plays a central role in the human resources function, providing support and expertise across various HR activities. This position contributes to the overall effectiveness of the HR department by assisting in recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, training and development, and other HR-related tasks. The HR Generalist collaborates with employees at all levels and ensures that HR policies and practices are followed consistently.
What you'll do
- Assist in creating job descriptions, job postings, and recruitment materials.
- Screen resumes, conduct initial interviews, and coordinate interview schedules.
- Facilitate the new hire onboarding process, including paperwork, orientation, and training.
- Act as a point of contact for employees' inquiries, concerns, and HR-related matters.
- Mediate and resolve employee conflicts or disputes, maintaining a positive work environment.
- Provide guidance on HR policies and procedures to employees and managers.
- Support benefits enrollment and changes, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other employee benefits.
- Assist employees with benefits-related inquiries and issues.
- Assist in the performance review process, including goal setting, performance evaluations, and feedback.
- Identify training needs within the organization and assist in developing training programs.
- Coordinate and facilitate employee training sessions, workshops, and development initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations by staying updated on legal requirements.
- Participate in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
- Maintain employee records and documentation in compliance with confidentiality standards.
- Assist in organizing employee engagement activities and events.
- Contribute to internal communications, newsletters, and announcements.
- Compile HR data and generate regular reports on key HR metrics.
- Analyze data to identify trends and make recommendations for improvements.
- Participate in HR-related projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Strong understanding of HR principles, policies, and employment laws.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Experience in HR roles, with exposure to various HR functions, a plus.
- Proficiency in HRIS (Human Resources Information System) software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Construction and or service industry knowledge a plus.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
