About the role

Electrical Foremen are responsible for leading an electrical crew on commercial construction sites. Their primary role is to ensure planning, laying out, installing, and wiring electrical components are completed, as per project drawings, specifications and in accordance with applicable electrical codes.

What you'll do

  • Coordinating daily tasks according to priorities and plans, making changes when necessary due to weather, supply, delivery and personnel
  • Interpret and analyze electrical blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to accurately plan installations, identify material needs, and guide field crews in executing work to specification
  • Delegating individual responsibilities and projects to crew members and contractors
  • Providing adequate resources and staffing to meet project schedules, laws, regulations, best practices and safety needs
  • Emphasizing safe use of tools, machinery and equipment while providing training on safety gear, hardhats and procedures
  • Managing project budgets and quality standards for all sites
  • Resolving conflicts or miscommunications quickly and amicably
  • Ordering and managing day to day materials and managing quoting materials
  • Regularly reporting project status to supervisors, site engineers and other officials
  • Training, managing and mentoring employees and contractors

Qualifications

  • Michigan Journeyman or Master Electrical license
  • 10+ years of electrical field leadership experience, leading crews of up to 20-40
  • Experience leading projects up to $10,000,000
  • Strong proficiency in software and tools (e.g., Accubid, Bluebeam, Procore, Plangrid) and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Customer-service skills to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization as well as customers and inspectors
  • Decision-making skills for selecting personnel and subcontractors for specific tasks and jobs to meet deadlines and budgets
  • Time-management skills to meet deadlines and ensure construction phases are completed on time so that the next phase can start
  • In-depth knowledge of NEC codes and OSHA guidelines

Physical Requirements

  • Maneuvering on uneven ground and climb ladders
  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 35lbs
  • Must be able to work on feet for prolonged periods of time while using tools and perform repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping
