About the role
As a Preconstruction Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the preconstruction process by designing electrical systems and providing accurate estimates and all associated preconstruction activities for projects of varying size and complexity in order to support the success of our project teams. Working closely with the preconstruction and install teams, you will play a vital role in ensuring the successful planning and execution of electrical projects.
What you'll do
- Design Development: Collaborate with project stakeholders to develop electrical design solutions that meet project requirements, codes, and standards.
- Estimation: Utilize estimating software and other tools to prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for electrical projects, ensuring alignment with budgetary constraints and client expectations.
- Material Takeoffs: Conduct material takeoffs based on project drawings and specifications, identifying required materials and quantities for procurement.
- Value Engineering: Participate in value engineering exercises to identify opportunities for cost savings and performance optimization without compromising quality or safety.
- Bid Preparation: Assist in the preparation of bid documents, including proposals, schedules, and other supporting documentation, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
- Proposal and presentations: Attend project interviews with client and project team. Develop proposals and presentations.
- Coordination: Coordinate with internal teams, external consultants, and subcontractors to gather necessary information and ensure smooth project transitions from preconstruction to construction phases.
- Buying and vendor relationships: Evaluation and selection of specified material packages, suppliers and manufacturers. Build and maintain relationships.
- Quality Assurance: Review project plans and specifications to identify potential issues or discrepancies, collaborating with stakeholders to resolve them in a timely manner.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in electrical design and estimation, identify and support opportunities for process improvement and skills development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience in electrical design and/or estimation within the electrical construction industry, preferably in a commercial or industrial setting.
- Proficiency in estimating software and other relevant tools such as Accubid, Bluebeam, or similar.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret project requirements and develop accurate estimates.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and accuracy.
- Knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and industry best practices.

- Masters Electrical License
- Electrical PM experience
- Projects up to $20M
