About the position:

This is an exciting new role for a Workshop Manager to join an Australian based company that has recently expanding globally with setting up and overseeing our first US based Workshop. This role blends leadership with hands-on operational oversight- managing a skilled team of jewellers—setters, filers, polishers, and admin staff—while also collaborating closely with other suppliers and our Melbourne Head Office.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee daily operations within the workshop to ensure that production schedules are met, and workflows are optimised for efficiency.
  • Provide leadership and support to the workshop team, including jewellers, setters, polishers, and trainees, guiding them to consistently deliver high-quality work.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the workshop, identifying and implementing process enhancements to streamline operations and increase productivity.
  • Support the training and development of workshop staff, offering mentorship and technical guidance to help jewellers enhance their skills and meet production quality expectations.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations within the workshop, addressing any safety concerns promptly to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Manage workshop resources, including tools, materials, and equipment, to ensure they are effectively used and maintained in optimal condition.

What are we seeking?

  • Extensive experience as a jeweller, with proficiency in techniques such as setting, polishing, and repairs, and a strong understanding of workshop processes.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to manage, support, and motivate a team, fostering a productive and collaborative work environment.
  • High attention to detail and quality control experience, with the ability to assess and ensure the quality of jewellery pieces.
  • Advanced fine motor skills and the ability to perform meticulous work under a microscope, ensuring precision and accuracy.
  • Proven experience in identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance workflow and operational efficiency.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with team members, management, and other departments.

What we offer:

In addition to a competitive remuneration package we offer all our team members a range of benefits including:

  • A supportive and collaborative work environment;
  • An Employee Assistance Program for you and a family member to utilise;
  • Generous staff and family / friend discounts;
  • Team events and initiatives included as part of our wellbeing program;
  • Paid volunteer leave, and sponsorship of a child in South East Asia/Africa under your name;
  • The opportunity to join a growing company with a global presence - you really can take your career anywhere!
