About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Fractional Accountant to support our organization (small business) with accounting, tax, and financial management. In this role, you will provide expert financial guidance, manage day-to-day accounting activities, and offer strategic tax planning, all on a part-time, flexible basis. Ideal for someone with a solid background in tax, small business accounting, and an ability to work independently and at scale.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage bookkeeping and accounting functions for multiple small business clients
  • Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations
  • Perform tax planning and preparation, including federal, state, and local filings
  • Advise organization on strategies to optimize tax liabilities and maximize deductions
  • Conduct monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and other financial accounts
  • Develop and implement financial controls and processes to streamline accounting functions
  • Provide financial reporting and analysis to help clients make informed decisions
  • Collaborate with business owners on budgeting, cash flow management, and forecasting
  • Stay up to date with the latest tax laws and accounting standards, especially as they impact small businesses

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with a focus on small businesses
  • In-depth knowledge of tax preparation and planning for businesses and individuals
  • Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, etc.) and tax preparation tools
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, tax regulations, and small business financial management
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a consultative approach
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple clients, and meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working in a fractional or consulting capacity
  • Knowledge of industry-specific tax issues for sectors like retail, services, or e-commerce
  • Familiarity with payroll, sales tax, and other regulatory filings
  • CPA or equivalent certification preferred
