About the role

We are seeking an intermediate to senior DevOps Engineer to help expand Leap with new online tools and content that will engage and delight users building quantum-powered applications for our Hybrid Service. These applications tackle some of the world’s most intractable problems. If you're eager to collaborate on groundbreaking technology, this is the place for you! 

As part of D-Wave’s Leap Hybrid Services team, you will help develop new features and maintain existing code for the Hybrid Services platform in a DevOps role. This will be a great opportunity for an ambitious developer who wants to expand their software development knowledge and learn from experienced and talented developers. No quantum computing knowledge is required, but you will be given the opportunity to learn as much as you want about this next generation of computing.   

What you'll do

  • Work on the edge of modern distributed systems and dynamically provisioned compute 
  • Utilize computer science expertise to solve new and unique computing challenges 
  • Help customers implement optimization solutions enabled by quantum computing 
  • Collaborate with Algorithm, Backend and DevOps teams to deliver innovative cloud solutions for deploying state of the art quantum-classical hybrid algorithms 
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle from requirements gathering, development, testing, validation, production deployment to maintenance 
  • Debug, troubleshoot and mitigate issues in the hybrid algorithm software stack 
  • Work together with the Professional Services team and respond to customer feedback to optimize and enhance production workloads 

About You

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent 
  • 2+ years professional experience as a software developer (Python preferred) 
  • Proficiency in programming with Python 
  • Hands-on experience with developing applications on Kubernetes, including design and implementation of container orchestration, reliable deployments, application packaging using Helm, and more 
  • Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills  
  • Self-motivated, proactive, flexible, curious and passionate attitude towards learning   
  • Knowledge of common CI/CD automation tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Octopus and/or others) 
  • Extensive experience with source control tools and methodologies (Git) and artifact management (Docker Registry, Artifactory, Terraform Registry, PyPi) 
  • Experience using, developing and deploying containerized applications 
  • Experience developing and deploying software in a cloud-environment 
  • Willingness to join the on-call rotation to ensure high availability of the Leap service for several days of the month 

    Must be local to British Columbia to be considered (Vancouver/Burnaby area)

Bonus: one or more of the following additional qualifications would be awesome but not necessary:  

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, including writing, testing, and maintaining infrastructure automation scripts 
  • Kubernetes knowledge on authentication, secret management for example Kubernetes secrets, ASM and vault
