About the role

We are seeking a Software Developer to help with the development of Leap, our quantum-classical Hybrid Services platform. This is an individual contributor role suited for a developer with technical expertise and excels at solving complex problems at scale. Please note that we are open to hiring this person at the Intermediate or Senior level, which will be assessed based on relevant technical and industry experience.

As a valued member of our Leap Hybrid Services team, you will contribute to building and enhancing our platform architecture while implementing key initiatives that power quantum-enabled hybrid applications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions. This role is ideal for someone eager to grow their expertise, follow technical direction with precision, while contributing to the scaling and expansion of our product’s capabilities. 

What you'll do

  • Implement core components and services of the Hybrid platform with a focus on scalability, reliability, and maintainability. 
  • Contribute across the full SDLC: requirements, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance. 
  • Apply best practices in software engineering, DevOps, testing, and observability. 
  • Participate in code reviews and design discussions. 
  • Support improvements to CI/CD and cloud-native workflows. 
  • Assist with performance and scalability enhancements. 
  • Contribute to product discussions and engineering processes. 
  • Join the annual Hackathon to prototype new ideas. 

About You

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent. 
  • 2-5+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Proficiency in Python and at least one other language (compiled language experience is preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience with scaling distributed systems, microservices, and RESTful APIs. 
  • Experience working with Kubernetes for container orchestration. 
  • Strong debugging and performance tuning skills in cloud environments (AWS preferred). 
  • Excellent communication and cross-team collaboration skills. 
  • Passion for innovation and interest in quantum computing (prior experience not required). 

Additional Qualifications

  • Experience building secure and performant public-facing APIs. 
  • Contributions to open-source projects or technical community involvement. 
  • Prior experience in hybrid or HPC systems, scientific computing, or optimization problems. 
  • Experience with DevOps principles, docker build best practices, and infrastructure as code (Terraform, etc.).

The base pay range for this role is:

  • Intermediate: 103,273 - 154,909 (Canada (CAD), United States (USD))
  • Senior: 123,364 - 186,545 (Canada (CAD), United States (USD))
