About the role

D-Wave is seeking a Facilities Operations Specialist to support business continuity and critical infrastructure reliability. This role requires an experienced, hands-on professional who can independently manage complex maintenance activities, lead moderately complex projects, and contribute to infrastructure improvements while responding effectively to operational and emergency needs. You will be part of a team responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of facilities supporting our Quantum Systems. 


What you'll do

  • Independently manage facility operations with a focus on electrical, mechanical, and critical equipment systems 
  • Own infrastructure maintenance programs, including preventative maintenance, equipment installation, lifecycle planning, and capacity management 
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze monitoring and reporting for technical building systems 
  • Ensure accuracy and ongoing updates of electrical panel schedules, single-line diagrams, and mechanical drawings 
  • Manage vendor relationships, including contract coordination, performance monitoring, and compliance with safety and service requirements 
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements 
  • Provide technical analysis and resolution of reported issues; anticipate risks and escalate potential issues proactively 
  • Identify opportunities to improve facility processes, procedures, and system performance; recommend and implement improvements 
  • Contribute to longer-term facility strategies that enhance reliability, efficiency, and the overall operational work environment 
  • Support development and tracking of equipment performance metrics and KPIs to drive data-informed decisions 
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and external partners as required 

About you

  • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Building Sciences, or a related field or equivalent combination of education, certifications, and hands-on facilities experience 
  • 5+ years of experience in facilities operations, critical facilities, data center, industrial, or similarly complex environments 
  • CDCP, Power Engineer, Building Environmental Systems Operator, and Facilities Management certifications, or Engineering (EIT/P.Eng.) will be an asset 
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC, power distribution, electrical and mechanical systems; familiarity with BMS, monitoring platforms, and CAD documentation 
  • Able to work with minimal day-to-day direction; exercises sound judgment in selecting solutions and prioritizing work 
  • Proven ability to estimate effort, manage timelines, and own deliverables for familiar and moderately complex work 
  • Clear, effective communicator with the ability to work across teams and with vendors 
  • Experience contributing to facility policies, procedures, system documentation, and runbooks 
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex technical issues, respond to emergencies, and develop practical, effective solutions 
  • Proactive, customer-focused approach with accountability for outcomes and operational impact

74,640 - 111,960 CAD per year (Burnaby)
