In 2010, Daybreak Independent Services opened its doors for individuals with

developmental disabilities to learn and apply their skills in a traditional work setting.

Since then, Daybreak has expanded its mission to multiple locations adding both people

and additional services. DBIS Serves hundreds of New Yorkers living with

developmental disabilities.


Partnerships with local businesses like Stew Leonard, TJ Maxx, and Marshalls have

allowed the vision to grow exponentially. In addition, taking on residential programs has

allowed us to serve those that need round-the-clock supervision.


It’s only the beginning. As we change lives every day, we change in the process. So the

Job Title: Behavior Intervention Specialist - Day Habilitation

Reports to: BIS Coordinator

Location:  (Bronx)

Job Classification: Full-time 40 hrs per week)

FLSA: Non-exempt 

Salary: $23.00 - 24.00 per hour


Brief Job Description:

DBIS is a not-for-profit agency located in New York City that serves individuals with developmental disabilities. The Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS) is responsible for planning and implementing person-centered Behavior Support Plans. In addition, the Behavior Intervention Specialist works hands-on to redirect maladaptive behaviors, assist in crisis management, and provide individual counseling.

  • Planning, coordination, and implementing Behavior Support Plans
  • Train and supervise Team Leaders & Direct Support Professionals in implementing Behavior Support Plans.
  • Ensuring accurate data collection, Reviewing ABC sheets, and assessing trends
  • Conduct behavior review meetings, document, and disseminate results.
  • Maintain open communication with the program, clinical and administrative staff.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Psychology or Mental Health field.
  • Must have Driver's License to commute between Group home and office.

Preferences:

  • The agency prefers candidates with certification in Applied Behavior Analysis (ex. BCBA or RBT) and previous experience with adults with developmental disabilities in residential and Day Habilitation settings.

The pay range for this role is:

23 - 24 USD per hour (Woodlawn - With Walls)
