About the Role: 
We are seeking an experienced Backend Developer with strong skills in Java Spring Boot to join our team on a 1099 contract basis. You'll be extending and optimizing our middleware applications, with a primary focus on integrations with Sage Intacct. You’ll also work with other REST APIs across our enterprise platform. 

This is a technical, hands-on role. You’ll be expected to build performant and scalable REST services, solve integration problems, and write clean, maintainable code. We’re looking for someone who can contribute from day one, with minimal handholding. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Design, build, and maintain RESTful APIs using Java Spring Boot 
• Extend and maintain middleware integrations with Sage Intacct 
• Collaborate with system administrators, project managers, DevOps, and frontend teams to ensure seamless system-wide functionality 
• Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues quickly and efficiently 
• Occasionally work with Python or other scripting languages for glue code and automation 
• Contribute to technical documentation where appropriate 

Requirements: 

• 5+ years of backend development experience 
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with Java Spring Boot 
• Strong understanding of REST architecture, HTTP methods, and API security best practices 
• Experience integrating with third-party APIs 
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision 
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills 

Nice to Have (Bonus): 

• Experience with Sage Intacct or other Sage products, or a financial background 
• Python scripting or automation experience 
• Familiarity with data analytics tools or methodologies (e.g., SQL, Pandas, Jupyter)
