About the role
15 Lightyears is seeking an experienced Licensed Journeyman Electrician to join our growing commercial electrical team. This is a hands-on position for a skilled electrician who takes pride in delivering high-quality work, solving technical challenges, and helping ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

Working alongside project managers, electricians, apprentices, and other field personnel, you will perform commercial electrical installations, troubleshoot electrical systems, and help maintain quality workmanship on a variety of commercial and solar projects throughout Central Florida. The ideal candidate should be comfortable providing guidance to apprentices and laborers, leading small crews when needed, and setting a positive example in the field.

Job Type: Full-Time

Location: 15 lightyears corporate office located in Lake Mary, FL. Job is performed in various counties across Central Florida.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required based on business needs.

What you'll do

  • Perform commercial electrical installations in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), local codes, and company standards.
  • Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial electrical systems and equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, electrical drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Install conduit, wire, panels, switchgear, transformers, disconnects, lighting, and other commercial electrical equipment.
  • Perform electrical testing, troubleshooting, and diagnostics to identify and resolve issues.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
  • Coordinate with project managers and fellow team members to complete projects on schedule.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure quality and compliance with project specifications.
  • Assist with material planning and communicate job site needs to project management.
  • Provide guidance and direction to apprentices and laborers as needed while promoting safe work practices and quality craftsmanship.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, inspectors, contractors, and other trades on job sites.
  • Support commercial solar electrical installations when required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support successful project completion.

Qualifications

  • Active Florida Journeyman Electrician License required.
  • Minimum 5 years of commercial electrical construction experience preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Experience with switchgear, transformers, distribution panels, conduit installation, and commercial electrical systems.
  • Solar electrical experience is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction documents.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with a team.
  • Comfortable directing apprentices or laborers when assigned.
  • Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment.
  • Ability to work at heights, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Basic computer and mobile device skills preferred.
  • Must pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License with a safe driving record required.
