Join Our Team as an Estimator!

ABEL Construction Company is looking for a skilled Estimator to join our growing team. We are seeking a detail-oriented Construction Estimator to support our preconstruction team by preparing accurate cost estimates and competitive proposals for commercial construction projects. The ideal candidate will review project documents, perform quantity takeoffs, coordinate subcontractor pricing, and assist in developing complete bid packages.

Key Responsibilities

• Review project drawings, specifications, and bid documents to determine project scope and estimate requirements.
• Perform quantity takeoffs using On-Screen Takeoff and prepare estimates in Sage Estimating.
• Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and supplier proposals.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates, bid summaries, and proposal documentation.
• Maintain organized estimate files and cost databases.
• Communicate with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to clarify project requirements.
• Identify discrepancies in project documents and assist in resolving scope questions.
• Support contract negotiations, change order pricing, and other preconstruction activities as needed.
• Ensure estimates are accurate, complete, and submitted on schedule.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent education and experience will be considered.
• Experience in commercial construction estimating preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Sage Estimating, On-Screen Takeoff, and BuildingConnected.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Detail-oriented professional with a commitment to accuracy and quality.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, and project teams.
• Self-motivated, organized, and eager to contribute to successful project outcomes.

Location: This position requires the candidate to work on-site in the Louisville, KY area.
