Agility PR Solutions

Director of Communications & Content

Company Overview

Agility PR Solutions is a global leader in media intelligence and PR technology. Founded in 2003, we help communications teams around the world drive awareness, make smarter decisions, and protect their reputation when it matters most. Our enterprise-grade platform unifies media relations, media monitoring, social listening, AI visibility, and media intelligence into a single seamless system—turning overwhelming streams of coverage and conversation into decision-ready intelligence. Recognized for ease of use, results, and customer support, Agility is one of the most trusted names in media intelligence. Our mission is to empower the voices that shape the world's narratives, and we're looking for people who want to help us do it.

About the Role

Reporting to the VP of Marketing, the Director of Communications & Content is Agility's editorial and communications leader: editor-in-chief of Bulldog Reporter, owner of our flagship research properties, and head of Agility's own earned media and PR program. This role requires a rare combination — a genuine PR or editorial background paired with real content marketing experience — and both are essential.

Bulldog Reporter is your publication. The mandate is a turnaround: grow the audience from roughly 5,000 active subscribers to 20,000 within 12 months at disciplined acquisition economics, through six established editorial franchise formats. The publication's operating principle is journalism first — credible, useful reporting for PR professionals — with our platform as its instrument. You set and defend the editorial standard, direct the franchise strategy, arbitrate the production queue between editorial and campaign demands, and own the Bulldog Awards program, whose credibility rests on the same editorial integrity as the publication itself.

You own both of our flagship research properties — our primary research on the true cost of manual reporting, and our study of the gap between how brands think they appear in AI-generated answers and how they actually do. Both are built from a single field instrument you will design: survey construction, methodology, analysis, and the reports themselves. You will defend the methodology publicly, because these reports are built to be cited.

You run everything earned. A company that sells PR software must be excellent at its own PR: press outreach, analyst and media relations, industry awards, and executive visibility all belong to you, alongside our thought-leader program.

You will manage the Content Marketing Manager — and help hire them, which is why this role is filled first — and you will collaborate closely with the Associate Director, Demand Generation, since a substantial share of the content organization's output serves demand campaigns.

What Success Looks Like

  • Bulldog Reporter grows from approximately 5,000 to 20,000 active subscribers within 12 months, at or below target acquisition cost, with engagement quality holding as the list scales.
  • Both flagship research reports ship on schedule with defensible methodology, earning measurable coverage, citations, and derivative content.
  • Agility's earned media program is visibly alive: consistent press coverage, working analyst relationships, award wins, and executive visibility for company leadership.
  • The editorial standard holds across the publication and the content organization's output — a consistent, recognizable house register without drift.
  • The Content Marketing Manager is hired, developed, and productive, with the production queue arbitrated so both editorial and campaign content ship.
  • Content performance is reviewed on a regular numbers cadence, and what works is identified, understood, and built upon.

What you’ll do

Bulldog Reporter — Editor-in-Chief

  • Own audience growth strategy and its economics; direct the six editorial franchise formats.
  • Set and enforce the editorial standard; edit hard and develop the writers you edit.
  • Arbitrate the production queue between editorial franchises and campaign content needs.
  • Direct the contributor network through the Content Marketing Manager.
  • Own the Bulldog Awards program — categories, judging standards, and the editorial integrity that makes the recognition worth winning — with field marketing running live ceremony mechanics and community activation of entrants.

Flagship Research

  • Design the field instrument: survey construction, sampling, and methodology.
  • Direct analysis and author the flagship reports; own their quality and their launch narratives.
  • Defend the methodology publicly with press, analysts, and practitioners.
  • Partner with field marketing, which produces the launch webinars and readout events that put the research on stage.

Earned Media & PR Program

  • Run Agility's press outreach, analyst and media relations, and awards program.
  • Build executive visibility for company leadership through speaking, bylines, and interviews.
  • Direct the thought-leader program.
  • Engage agency or freelance support where it genuinely accelerates outcomes.

Team & Editorial Leadership

  • Hire, manage, and develop the Content Marketing Manager.
  • Take briefs from — and negotiate priorities with — the Associate Director, Demand Generation.
  • Internalize how the platform works so the publication's journalism-first, platform-as-instrument framing is executed with integrity.
  • Review content performance data on a weekly cadence and turn learnings into the next assignment.

What You'll Bring

  • A genuine PR or editorial background — newsroom experience or communications leadership — combined with hands-on content marketing experience. Both are required.
  • Experience building research reports: instrument design, survey execution, analysis, and methodology you were willing to defend in public.
  • Audience or newsletter growth experience with numbers you can show, strongly preferred.
  • A head for numbers: highly analytical, outcome-driven, and fluent in content performance data.
  • Business savvy and strategic judgment — you connect editorial decisions to commercial outcomes without corrupting the journalism.
  • People leadership experience, and the collaborative instincts to work daily with a demand generation counterpart.
  • A sense of urgency and a test-and-learn mindset: when a piece works, you ask why, and you build on it.
  • Fluency in the PR and communications industry and its practitioners — our readers and our buyers.

AI Usage

We use technology to make hiring smarter, faster, and more personal, never less human. Artificial intelligence (AI) tools help us manage applications efficiently and highlight qualifications that align with each role, allowing our recruiters to focus more on meaningful conversations with candidates. AI does not make hiring decisions at Agility. Every decision is made by people, our hiring managers and recruitment professionals, who are trained to apply sound judgment and equitable practices at every stage. We believe technology exists to amplify human insight, not replace it. That belief shapes how we build relationships, tell stories, and grow our teams.

At Agility, we strive every day to build a more inclusive work environment and introduce tools that enable it. We strongly encourage applications from all people regardless of race, religion, gender, age, disability status or sexual orientation.

Even if you find yourself not checking all the boxes of our listed requirements but you are excited about this opportunity, we'd love to hear from you anyway. Our Talent Acquisition team will review your application for this role, and other potential role matches open now or in the future.

If, at any stage of the application process, you require accommodation owing to disability or a medical need, please let us know at careers@agilitypr.com for us to make appropriate arrangements.
