Senior Buyer, Outside Services

Beehive Industries is dedicated to Powering American Defense by revolutionizing the design, development, and delivery of jet propulsion systems to support the warfighter. Founded in 2020, the company is headquartered in Centennial, Colorado, with additional facilities in Knoxville, Tennessee, Loveland Ohio, and Mount Vernon, Ohio. Beehive is committed to grow and advance the defense industrial base while manufacturing exclusively in the USA. This role will be located at our Cincinnati, Ohio facility.


Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Buyer to own and support execution of all outside processing and special process requirements in a fast-paced aerospace and defense environment. This role owns the supplier relationship and purchasing process for outside services including non-destructive testing, heat treatment, and other specialized manufacturing services

The Buyer works closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Supply Planning, and Program teams to ensure outside processing is completed in accordance with purchase order requirements, customer specifications, applicable aerospace standards, and required delivery schedules.

This position is responsible for negotiating long term agreements, understanding supplier capacity and constraints, partnering with technical teams to qualify new sources and managing the complete outside-service process from purchase requisition through supplier execution.


What You’ll Do...

  • Manage purchase orders and supplier relationships for all assigned outside processing and special process requirements.
  • Manage RFQs/RFPs, supplier selection, bid analysis, negotiations, and contract execution.
  • Ensure full compliance with FAR/DFARS requirements and all government contracting regulations throughout the procurement process.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Facilities, Quality, Finance, and Program Management teams to support business objectives.
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, lead times, service agreements, and long-term supply arrangements.
  • Develop and maintain supplier relationships to ensure performance in quality, delivery, cost, and responsiveness.
  • Identify and execute cost reduction, process improvement, and supply chain risk mitigation initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records, purchase orders, and sourcing documentation within ERP/MRP systems.
  • Support audits and documentation requirements related to AS9100, ISO standards, and government contracting compliance.
  • Own supplier delivery performance for outside processing requirements and proactively manage material through the supplier network.
  • Coordinate shipment of material to and from outside processors to support production schedules.
  • Monitor supplier lead times, work-in-process, capacity constraints, and potential delivery risks.
  • Support long-term agreements, pricing agreements, blanket purchase orders, and other commercial strategies where appropriate

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred.

Experience

  • 3–7+ years of purchasing or procurement experience in manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or highly regulated industries.

Skills & Competencies

  • Demonstrated experience preparing, managing, and auditing procurement compliance documentation.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and supplier management skills.
  • Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems
  • Ability to read and interpret statements of work, and technical specifications
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and procurement analytics.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Nice to have...

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, precision machining, additive, or advanced manufacturing environments. Experience supporting lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience with long-term supply agreements and logistics
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar.
