About the role
Qualifications
● Must be a current student.
● Must be able to work most weekdays and weekends.
● Previous experience with animals (personal, volunteer, or professional) preferred.
● Comfortable handling animals in a calm and respectful manner.
● Ability to follow directions and adhere to safety protocols.
● Strong communication and time management skills.
● Must be able to work independently and complete assigned tasks without supervision.
● Must be responsible and dependable.
● Referral preferred.
Work Environment:
● Work is performed in an animal lab setting.
● Exposure to animal dander, odors, and cleaning agents.
● Will work involve working independently or as part of a small team.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an Animal Caretaker to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
● Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and routinely lift/move up to 50 pounds.
● Ability to use small step ladders to perform work.
● Handling, restraining, and moving animals as needed.
Reasonable accommodations may be made to ensure people can perform the essential functions.
Expected Hours of Work:
● The Animal Caretaker must be able to work 7 days a week, depending on the agreed schedule.
● Daily assigned work must occur between 7AM and 9PM.
● Weekly work will average about 5-10 hours per week.
● Student employees may not work more than 20 hours per week during the school..
