Drain Install Manager

Position Summary

The Drain Install Manager is responsible for leading the daily operations of the Drain Installation team by overseeing residential and commercial drain replacement projects from start to finish. This role ensures projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards while delivering an exceptional customer experience. The Drain Install Manager provides leadership, coaching, technical expertise, and operational support to field team members while collaborating with dispatch, sales, customer service, and other departments to achieve departmental and company goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop Drain Installation team members while fostering a positive, accountable, and safety-focused culture.
  • Oversee daily scheduling, manpower, equipment, materials, and project execution to maximize efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct job site visits to monitor workmanship, safety compliance, quality standards, and customer satisfaction.
  • Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting for complex drain installation and replacement projects.
  • Ensure all installations comply with company standards, local building codes, safety regulations, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Partner with Sales, Dispatch, Customer Service, and Operations to coordinate project scheduling, customer communication, and workflow.
  • Establish, monitor, and drive key performance indicators (KPIs), including productivity, gross margin, revenue, job profitability, callback rates, customer satisfaction, and safety performance.
  • Analyze departmental performance metrics and implement process improvements to increase operational efficiency and profitability.
  • Develop, manage, and maintain the department's operating budget while monitoring labor, equipment, material, and operational expenses.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings while maintaining quality, safety, and exceptional customer service.
  • Manage inventory, tools, equipment, fleet readiness, and vendor relationships to support daily operations.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, train, mentor, and evaluate team members while creating individual development plans and succession opportunities.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, coaching conversations, and accountability meetings to support continuous improvement.
  • Address customer concerns professionally and resolve issues promptly while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Promote and enforce all company policies, safety procedures, OSHA regulations, and applicable compliance requirements.
  • Participate in leadership meetings, strategic planning, departmental forecasting, and cross-functional initiatives that support the company's long-term objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; trade school or industry certifications preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of drain installation or plumbing experience, with at least two (2) years in a leadership or management role.
  • Strong knowledge of residential and commercial drain replacement methods, underground piping systems, trenching, excavation, and related equipment.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage performance, and develop employees.
  • Experience managing departmental budgets, operational metrics, and business performance.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and field service management software.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and construction environments.
  • Ability to safely operate company vehicles, equipment, and jobsite tools.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
