The Role

As a Technical Product Manager at BRIGHTSCOUT, you'll decide what gets built and why, then make sure it actually ships. On accounts where the client has their own product team, you'll partner with them to translate their vision into a backlog our engineering and design teams can execute against. On accounts where they don't, you'll be that product team: setting direction, making the calls a client's own PM would make, and representing their business goals inside every planning conversation.

This is a hybrid role by design. Some weeks you're closer to a Product Manager, working the vision, roadmap, and stakeholder tradeoffs. Other weeks you're closer to a Product Owner, writing acceptance criteria and keeping a sprint on track. You'll move fluidly between the two, and know which one a given moment calls for.

Responsibilities

• Product Vision, Client Partnership & Backlog Ownership
• Act as the acting product lead for clients without an in-house PM, building a working command of their business, users, and market deep enough to make credible calls on their behalf.
• Translate ambiguous business goals and stakeholder input into a clear product vision, roadmap, and prioritized, sequenced backlog — grooming it by user value, dependency, risk, and effort.
• Run or support discovery and requirements gathering alongside our Solutions and Delivery teams, turning findings into epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria the team can execute against.
• Represent the client's product interests in internal planning, and represent technical and delivery realities back to the client, in both directions; present roadmaps, tradeoffs, and progress in plain language, holding the line on scope when priorities exceed what a sprint or budget can support.
• Review completed work against acceptance criteria and accept it into the baseline — you're the team's quality gate for whether the work meets the intent, not just the ticket.

Agile Execution, Collaboration & Tooling

• Run or co-run agile ceremonies (standups, sprint planning, reviews, retros), keeping the team anchored to sprint and release goals.
• Partner daily with design, engineering, and QA to resolve ambiguity and keep tradeoffs visible to the business side.
• Work alongside our Project Management team on scope, risk, and budget: you own what gets built, they own the plan and the day-to-day client cadence, and the two of you keep each other honest. Coordinate with the shared Capabilities team to keep priorities aligned across concurrent engagements.
• Use AI-assisted tools for research synthesis, spec drafting, and backlog grooming, with the judgment to know when to override a first draft.
• Stay fluent in modern product and delivery tooling (Jira, Linear, Notion, Productboard, or equivalent) and comfortable enough with Figma to work directly with designers.
  
  

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience spanning product management and product ownership, ideally including agency, consultancy, or client-services work — comfortable owning both ends of the job, from setting direction with a client to writing a precise acceptance criterion.
• Enough technical fluency to hold a real conversation with engineers about architecture tradeoffs, APIs, and technical debt, without needing to write the code yourself.
• Analytically minded and hypothesis-driven, comfortable making calls with incomplete information, with a genuine sense of ownership over outcomes, not just outputs.
• Strong written and verbal communication, able to translate technical constraints for a client and business goals for a dev team, in both directions.
• Practical, hands-on experience with Agile/Scrum, modern delivery tooling, and AI tools for research, writing, and backlog work.
